Chapter 1: The Ceremony

John B's pov

This isn't how we wanted to start summer break. Its usually filled with pogue style parties and just hanging out but after the deaths this summer...it'll be changed forever. If you don't know me by now I'm John B Routledge. I'm a pogue and basically all my friends are as well. We live on the end of Obx and our mission every summer is to have a good time....ALL the time.

After the death of Sheriff Peterkins everything went downhill. After a few months of me and my girlfriend Sarah came back from the Bahamas we got the gold and a few new friends. I was so glad we got the gold but something still didn't feel exactly right. Sarah's brother, Rafe, framed me, knowing I SAW him do it. Although he has an Alibi which was suspicious. Anyways, back to present day, right now we're at a ceremony for them to thank all the pogues for our hunting and honoring Sheriff peterkins. Rafe was there looking unhappy as usual and Sarah noticed me looking death glaring him."Hey" She whispered to me, "Don't let him get to you. You're safe with me" I smiled back at her placing a hand on her thighs. The other pogues, JJ, Kiara, Pope and Cleo, looked at us and smiled. As they were going on with the ceremony, we were all just dreading and honestly waiting for it to be over. We all been through a lot in the past year, but we were ready to put everything behind us and look forward.

After the ceremony, we were all heading the same way and decided to hang around a table. "Honeslty, right now I need a blunt," JJ said. "I'll hit that, lets go do it over here." reliped Kie. JJ and Kie got really close while Kie was captured, i always knew JJ had something for Kie, I mean.. We all DID. Pope and Cleo went the other way, knowing Pope was most likely going to find his parents with Cleo. Me and Sarah went back to talking at our table and sighed. "Wow, this is nuts, I can't believe we're actually getting congratulated by Kooks! " I spoke after a while of silence. Sarah just smiled, knowing she was surprised too. "I know you want things to go back to normal John B, but with Pope going away to his school, JJ with the charter boat, And Kie you know, saving turtles, I think after everything that happened with our families, it's time to start a new chapter." "I dont know Sarah, I mean, i would love to, and i know we have our surf shop and everything but.." "But..You still dont think it'll be the same without your dad." "Or yours." We sat in silence for a while. After a bit, we found JJ and Kie behind a pillar, talking, cuddling a bit, and still smoking.

"Are you two lovebirds done?"Sarah shouted. JJ and Kie blushed making them step away from each other. "We just finished the last blunt, so i guess so. Where's Pope and Cleo." Kie said "GUYS THERE'S A BODY" Cleo shouted. We all looked at each other and ran to where her and Pope were. It was one of the announcers bleeding out with a note on them saying, "Hello OBX crew" We all stared at each other and noticed Pope was running back covered in blood.
