CHAEYOUNG.

It's been an uneasy night. I opened my eyes feeling so tired. I looked at the bedside table to check the time; 5:45 AM. I took a deep breath and got up. It's only Thursday but I felt that this week lasted for a year, if not, more. I took my phone beside the clock to check messages and I internally frowned upon seeing one from the little devil, Jennie Kim. This bitch rarely sends a message and I'm burning with curiosity as to why. I hurriedly opened the message.

"Drop by at my office tomorrow as soon as you come in, okay? No detours, Chaeyoung. This is pretty important." I literally frown. Jennie's message is too cryptic for my own liking that I sighed again.

She usually does that if she wants my attention or just simply annoying me. I shook my head, chortling. Even though Jennie is a complete bitch to me at times, I know that she will always have my back. She's too straight forward for her own good.

She probably doesn't excel in her field if she's timid like me. Jennie is ruthless in court but she didn't lose her humanity and empathy. That's why I really like her working in the company as a Corporate Lawyer. Just like Lisa, her character judgment is impeccable. Cold at times like the love of her life but reasonable.

The phone suddenly rang in my hand and I almost dropped it in surprise. It was Jennie calling.

What the hell does she want so early in the morning?

"Hi Jen," I greeted and slumped back into the bed.

"Hubby, we seriously needed to talk. I didn't sleep properly last night and it took all my willpower not to pester you because this really cannot wait." I frowned at that and sat on the bed.

"What's going on, wifey?" I asked, worried. Jennie sighed at the other end of the line.

"Not over the phone. What time are you coming in today?"

"The usual time. 8 later. You're scaring me a little, Jennie Kim."

"I know and I'm sorry. Can we meet somewhere before you head into the office?"

"What time and where?" I asked, completely standing up now.

"The Lair. I'll wait for you there. I'll be heading out in a bit. I'll check on Lisa first because you know that idiot hated waking up so early every morning."

"Is she coming with you?"

"No. It's just the two of us. I'll see you later, Chaengie. Drive safely."

"You too, Jen. See you later," I said and the call ended. I stared at my phone for a full minute before putting it back down at the bedside table.

What was that about?

I hurriedly went to prepare because in the years I have known Jennie, if she said it's something important, it really is. She never plays around that's why she's so effective as a lawyer. She and Lisa complimented each other. Lisa might be a little reckless, but not Jennie. Never Jennie. It's starting to scare me, if I'm being honest with myself. I have a lot on my plate at the moment and I'm sincerely praying that whatever this might be is not something that will drive me off the wall.

I arrived at The Lair at 7 in the morning. Jennie and I are old friends with the owner and we trust him. He usually directs us to a private parlor whenever we meet. I cautiously looked around the vicinity just to check if there was something unusual. I can see Jennie's car in the VIP parking lot. I took another deep breath before getting out of the car.
