Three days.
Three days since the alarms had started blaring through - out the whole planet.
A sound that nobody could or seemingly would ever get out of their minds. The loud sirens played 24/7 across the town center— repeating and echoing throughout the whole city.
It wasn't just their city, it was every city. Ever. Quite literally.
It was May 28th, 2024, and to be quite honest, nobody had expected it all to end this soon.
The broadcasts — the only things playing on national television right now were telling Nick that there was an asteroid— ( which wasn't really an asteroid but we'll get down to that part soon enough ) — that was heading straight for the earth.
What a way to go out.
It was predicted to hit on the eastern side of the planet, estimated around China to Russia.
What a great estimation, not like those two are far at all. Nick sighs as he thinks about it. How comical.
Whichever country could make the big difference in Nick's chance of survival, if there was any.
Now as Nick looked out the shades of his apartment, he was examining the people flocking to the stores. He had already looted up on his items, thankfully with the help of his parents, and he had always taken an interest in people watching.
Watching these people was like no other.
They'd all scramble to one store, spare for the few who figured they were smart rushing off to an emptier store, and then they'd all rush back to the same one.
How dull.
The birds that kept rushing by his window, cheerfully chirping was making him feel queasy.
Didn't they know?
He grasps the cord and closes the shades. He had had enough of examining the outside for now. He had other important things to do, quite literally.
His parents were away now, presumably amongst the flocks of people in the street, and he was bored for it being presumably one of his last days.
For being an asteroid, it sure did have a huge span. He doubted it slightly, but didn't settle on the thought as he made his way to his cell - phone on his bed.
A few text messages and calls from people he hadn't contacted in quite literally forever.
He shakes his head, unlocking his phone with his thumb - print and opening his messages to find his best - friend in the world at the top.
Min - Jun.
'민준 👍'
While Nick definitely wasn't korean, Min - Jun had definitely made sure to show him how to spell his name correctly in his language enough times that made Nick giggle while he typed it in for his contact.

Math Class, Sophomore Year. Early 2023.
"No! No what are you doing? That's the D letter— no no, let me type it in— sheesh;" he mumbles something off to himself. "Jinjja—" he pinches the bridge of his nose. "Here, Nick. You poor helpless thing. That's how you type it."
He shows him, letter by letter.
Nick is definitely paying attention. Not staring at his hands or his face or anything.
