The day begins with the sun shining brightly.
I get ready for school with anticipation. When I see that my mother has prepared breakfast for me and my stepfather, I am pleased. She is usually at work at this hour.

We ate together as a joyful family. My mum kisses me on the cheek. "Get up now!" she says as she pulls away. I frown as a result of your comments. "Get up now," she says again. "You shithead!" "What exactly are you talking about?" I responded

Suddenly, I felt a severe chill all over my body. I spring to my feet. "You made me dump my ice on you." "Get dressed, I'm taking you to school," my stepfather yells. I stand there staring blankly and shaking from the cold.

"Hello, I said get dressed, you have 20 minutes," he says as he walks out of my room, slamming the door shut. Because of the loud boom, I jumped.

How could I have been so naive as to believe that dream? My mother and stepfather will never be good to me. I check my phone and discover that I only have 15 minutes left.

I quickly shower and get dressed. I approach the kitchen with my book bag with one minute to spare to get something to eat. I take out a box of Apple Jacks. As I open the fridge door, it slams shut, almost crushing my fingertips.

"Who the fuck told you you could eat my food?" I ask, standing over me. "I-I'm-I'm s-sorry," I stammer as I gaze down at my feet. I'm grabbed by the chin and forced up against the fridge.

"I will punish you if you take my food without asking." Understand me," his anger is seen in his eyes.

In answer, I shake my head. That irritated him greatly. I'm again pushed up against the refrigerator. "Speak when I'm fucking talking to you," he grumbles. "Y-Yes Sir," I say, almost crying as his grip tightens.

He gives me a brief look before letting me leave. " I'm running late. Get your shit together and meet me at the car." He gets his keys and walks out of the flat. In an attempt to alleviate the ache, I rub my jaw.

When I'm certain he's gone, I take two apples from the fridge and stuff them into my bag. I dash to the car to prevent further infuriating him.

The car ride to school is unusually quiet.
Normally, I would have been insulted repeatedly. Maybe I'm getting a break because today is my first day of seventh grade. I'm hoping to make a new friend.

But I have my doubts. Everyone gives me these disgusting expressions. My clothing have a few stains and are a little droopy.

But my mum refuses to purchase me anything new. She claims I'm old enough to shop for myself. I also can't make any friends because I can't tell them what happens at home.

They'll probably call the cops, and I'll be in serious trouble. My mum would crucify me if I ever mentioned anything to anyone.

The vehicle came to a complete halt. When I look up, we're parked on the side of the road. I'm not sure why we stopped. "You could walk the rest of the way." "I'm late for work, and you need to lose a few pounds anyway," he says.

He then reaches over and opens my door. "Now get the fuck out" I'm fatigued, but I have no choice. I quickly exit the car and close the door. He drives away swiftly. It may not be so horrible because I no longer have to smell the alcohol on his breath.

I walk to school in the scorching heat. I take one of the apples and eat it for energy. As I walk into the school, I get filthy looks. But how could they not when my clothes are filthy and I'm drenched in sweat?
