I step out of the bathroom in a nice black and gray button up shirt and some slacks. I feel weird. I feel like I'm going on my first date. It's strange.
I start to pace the hall debating if I can change Xavier's mind about going to La Fleur D'or. A french restaurant downtown. I stop pacing when he emerges from my room finishing the top button on a maroon shirt paired with black slacks.
Wow. He cleans up good.
I stand in awe as he lifts his head up to face me. His bruised nose and slight cut on his eye don't stray me from thinking he's the most gorgeous person I've ever laid eyes on.
"What? Do I look stupid?" He asked jumping back a bit, hurriedly looking down at the clothes I lent him.
I shake my head. God no, you look great.
He blushed. He started to rub the back of his neck again.
You know, you do that a lot. Do I make you uncomfortable? I asked.
"Oh the neck thing? No, I just um well...It's complicated." he said going right back to rubbing the back of his neck then catching himself and stopping.
I chuckled.
"Woah so you do have a voice box in that strong body." He smiled in his remark.
You thought I didn't? I smiled back.
"No I just never heard you make a sound before. It sounds nice. Hopefully one day I'll get to hear you speak." He held out his hand. I grabbed it with a look of confusion on my face. He spun me around as we both laughed.
"Alright mister, tonight is a fun night. Let's do this!" He let go of my hand and we gathered our things.
"Phone, wallet, keys, let's hit the road!" He exclaimed almost bouncing in excitement. I followed him down the stairs where my mom sat sipping on another cup of coffee.
"Well well well, look at you two. Where you handsome boys off to tonight?" She asked.
"With your permission ma'am I'd like to thank Dimitri for his help by taking him out to dinner." He smiled.
"Well that's very sweet of you. Judging from your attire I'm guessing that nice little french place downtown that Dimmy loves so much. Bring me back some breadsticks boys! That's payment for using my car." She winked.
I barreled out the door with Xavier close behind giggling. "Wow she's fun. I think our moms would definitely get along."
I nodded in agreement as we headed out to the street. The weather had a nice breeze with a slight warmth to it. It was almost dark out as we got into the car. I offered to drive since Xavier still had some slight eye pain. I started up the car and we took off. The nice lights of the downtown area made it feel like Christmas. We beamed whilst looking at all the lovely couples in there fancy attire strolling the sidewalks at night.
When we reached the restaurant I parked the car near the back of the building. I saw a look of confusion spread across Xavier's face.
"Why are we parked back here?" He asked.
Oh usually when I go places with Adam he always made me park in the back of places. Is that alright? I asked also confused.
Xavier rested a hand on my shoulder. "Oh Dim, when we're together, I'm happy to be seen with you in public. I'm sorry Adam did that, but I'm not him. " Xavier starts to get a little teary eyed at the end of his sentence.
I- Thank you Xavier. I couldn't think of anything else to say. I didn't want to make a fool of myself, but God was I happy someone finally stuck up for me.
