Chapter 5

"Omgg I love this song!" I say to Mazzy as we start walking to the dance floor

*starboy by The Weeknd is the song playing*

Me and Mazzy start dancing as I feel someone behide me and I turn around to see a guy around my age so I start dancing with him.

"Hey pretty girl what's your name?" He says to me.

"Just shut up and dance" I say as i start dancing with him.

A few minutes go by and I start getting tried. I turn to Mazzy to tell her something.

"Hey I'm going to the bar I'm getting tried"

"Ok I will come with you!" She says trying to yell over the loud music.

"No no it's ok you are having fun stay here!" I say

"Ok but don't do anything I wouldn't do!" She says

"Ok! I won't" I say as I start to walk to the bar, I sit down next to a guy that also looks my age and he's kinda cute.

"Can I get 4 shots please!" I say

The guy looks over at me slightly.

"Hi" I say as I laugh a little

"Hey" he says

"You are really drunk wow" he says

"Haha I know!" I say

"The best way to forget about something is too distract yourself from it" I say as the bartender puts the shots on the table.

"Thank you!" I say as I down the first shot

"So what's your name?" I ask the guy

"Jack, what's yours?" He says as he holds eye contact with me

"Your eyes are so pretty" I say
He then looks at me and smiles still not breaking eye contact. He was waiting for me to tell him my name.

"Oh! Um my names Maddie" I say

"Maddie pretty name"he says as I start to get butterflies

" so are you visiting New Jersey or do you live here?" I ask him

"Well I play for a hockey team here but I live in New York, I go to NYU" he tells me

"Shut up! I go to NYU!" I tell him

"Really maybe I will see you around there then"he says

There's a slight pause of awkwardness.

"Um so what hockey team do you play for"I say breaking the silence.

"I play for the New Jersey devils" he says

"Well there lucky to have such a hot guy on their team" I say holding eye contact

I then break the eye contact and take 2 more shots

"So what about you do you live here or just visiting?" He asks me as I stay silent

I then just remembered why I came here in the first place and why I needed to get really drunk tonight.

"Um I- um I well- I am also from New York but I came down with my boyfriend, well now ex-boyfriend" I say as water forms in my eyes

"Hey are you ok?" He asks me

"Um yea I'm totally fine! He just- he kinda cheated on me" I say as I wipe away my tears

"But fuck him and his hockey game!" I say

"He plays hockey to and he had i game here" I explain to him

"Really?" He says as he looks into my eyes then my lips

I then look at his lips

I slightly move my body closer to his and lock his lips on my lips.

I feel my heart pounding so fast as I feel him move back separating our lips

"What? I ask"

"Your really drunk" he says

"Whatever! I'm fine" I say as I lean closer to him for another kiss but he gets up

"No I can't kiss you when your drunk, I don't want to take advantage of you" he tells me

I look at him and as soon as I was about to answer him I hear Mazzys voice.

"Maddie!" She yells over the loud music as she looks and me then jack

"Um ok it's time for us to leave" she says as she looks at jack but him not taking his eyes off me.

And for some reason I can't take my eyes off him, well maybe it's because I'm really drunk or he is just so cute. His eyes his hair his nose his, lips.

"Ok see you around maddie" he says as me and Mazzy walk away

"Ok who was that?" She asks

"He was looking at you like he was in love or something!" She tells me

"Hm I don't know, hey I'm really tired!" I yell over the loud music.

We finally get out side as I say " I want to go to the hockey game tomorrow night"

"Babe no we are not going to see Trevor" she says

"No not for him I really just want to watch a hockey game" I tell her

"I promise I won't even look at him" I say

"Fine ok we will go" she says as our Uber pulls up and we get into the car
