It was fate, or maybe good ole' fashioned luck, that this was the day Maddy went off to visit her mama; as today, I'd taken delivery of a gift that I hoped she would love.
It also came in handy having so many cowboys around the place to help get it set up.
Y'alls be wondering what the hell I'm talking 'bout?
Well, it was one of those fancy hot-tubs I'd only ever seen in movies.
I'd never given one any thought until Riley Jo told us Maddy had fallen in love with the one Adam had gotten her for their anniversary.
And I will say this, it's up there as one of the best things we've ever purchased. Particularly after the stressful day worrying after Casey and eight-hours straight of bucking and stacking bales. Because just ten minutes after parking my ass in here and those fancy water-jets working some kind of magic whilst the fall of night robbed me of the sunset colours...well, it eased the stress right outta me.
Sighing out. I could get used to this.
And it was about to get even better.
I'd told Jackson to make sure they took the scenic route back and to stop and buy Maddy dinner on the way home so I could get the damn thing filled up.
But now all I had to do was wait. I sprawled my arms out either side of me, perching them on the edge with a beer in reach.
Perfect, well almost.
My head cocked to the side when I heard the rumble of my truck over yonder.
"Jackson..." I heard Maddy's voice. "Is it necessary that you're making me shut my eyes? What if I fall?"
"I got you, Princess. Ain't no way you're falling on my watch." He held onto her hand, tipping his head in my direction when they came around back.
"Right. You can open them now," he told her.
Her gasp was audible from where I sat, and a smug smile spread across my face. And slowly, when she took in the sight in front of her, the biggest smile, some might say to rival the brightness of the moon out tonight, lit up her face.
Her hands came up to cup her cheeks. "Oh, my heavens. What have you done?" She blinked and then blinked again. "I mean how, when?" She then slapped her forehead. "Duh, obviously today." Rolling her eyes at herself. "I can't believe you've gone and bought one!"
Jackson took her hand and fetched her closer.
She was still smiling as Jackson pressed a kiss to cheek "We thought you deserve something nice, since, y'know..."
"Why don't y'alls quit staring at the damn thing and get on in here!" I said.
Jackson needed no encouragement. Dropping Maddy's hand, he was already stripping off and in less than a minute was as naked as the day we were born and sporting the same problem I'd had all damn day.
