VALERIE

"Where are we going!?" I gush, watching Monaco pass by us out of the passenger window of Daniel's car.

He chuckles and squeezes my hand that's on his leg. "We're almost there. Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight? Because holy shit."

I giggle. "Only about fifty times since you picked me up."

"Well, make it fifty-one, you look absolutely stunning, Val. I love this dress on you."

I look down at the midnight blue velvet dress I'm wearing and then back up at him. "Thank you, for the fifty-first time."

He slows down and turns a corner. "It's just up here."

I frown. "Uh, Daniel, that's the ocean, like there isn't even a beach here."

He nods. "Yep."

Daniel slows down and eventually comes to a stop. I look around and see the lights of what seems to be a yacht through the trees.

"Daniel, what are we-"

"Stop asking questions, and trust me, will you?" he laughs.

I sigh, letting out a low laugh. "If this is the part where you murder me, at least give me a chance to take my heels off so I can have a headstart on running."

"I wouldn't make it so obvious, honey," he says simply before getting out of the car and walking around it to open my door.

"Madame." he smiles, holding his hand out for me to take.

I grip it and step out of the car, smoothing my dress down with my free hand.

He leads me to a small jetty and pulls my arm up so that it links in with his.

We walk down the dark path and eventually reach the end of the jetty, where a yacht is floating in the water.

"Danny." I gasp, squeezing his arm.

"Our home for the evening," he whispers.

I turn to him and frown. "What?"

"Your mom packed a bag for you and dropped it off when she went to get Jack from school, it's already on the boat," he says, super proud of himself.

I let out a little laugh and shake my head. "You two are dangerous together."

"There's a few staff onboard, and we'll be sailing around Monaco overnight, but otherwise we have this place to ourselves."

"This is too much, Danny." I shake my head, taking in the yacht in front of us.

"Nothing I ever do for you will be enough, Valerie."

Before I can respond we're greeted by the staff waiting for us. They give us each a glass of champagne and then one of the stewards shows us around the yacht.

"Dinner will be served in about an hour, until then, the captain will get us sailing, so enjoy the view and please let us know if you need anything." the steward smiles warmly before she disappears inside.

I turn to Daniel. "Ok, but seriously, this is insane. How did you set this up?"

"I have my connections." he clinks his glass on mine. "Here's to our first date."

I grin. "Here's to me teaching you that not everything has to be done to this extent."

He rolls his eyes. "Okay, Valerie, whatever you say."

He laughs when I pout and stick my tongue out at him.

"You can thank me later, honey." he winks, tapping my ass lightly.
