Every day was pretty calm at that city. It wasn't a busy city, with cars constantly driving and people always on the streets; but also not a serene city, with almost no movement on the streets - so little sound that a little rock falling could be loud. It was just.. decently calm.

There was a flower shop that many people liked to go to, no matter why or when. It wasn't something big, nor too fancy; it was cozy, something to make you feel at home and truly appreciate how well taken care of the flowers were.

It used to be owned by Herb, who was quite popular for his sweet and outgoing personality and love for the nature; or maybe it still is owned by him. It happens that he decided to work with something else - probably tea (and plants still) -, but he also didn't want to leave his flower shop alone, neither close it down. For that reason, he allowed his cousin to manage the flower shop like his own, as long as he took good care of it.

That cousin was Zephyr. A little opposite of Herb, he is more introverted and doesn't show much about himself to others. But something that got clear once he started working as a florist was that he also liked plants. Well, what would you expect from Herb's relatives?
At first, he was pretty reluctant of this idea. He couldn't see himself doing the same work with the same quality as Herb used to do. The reason why he changed his mind was when he found out he could skip all the talking by just asking what type of flowers the costumer wanted, giving them to the costumer, and then taking the money.... Ok, maybe he also really needed a job at the time and couldn't refuse it, but he doesn't talk about that.

He had acquainted some of his cousin's friends through that work. One of them were Sea Fairy, known best as Luminous Coral for her love for the ocean. She would often visit the flower shop to buy flowers for her girlfriend - who she talked about non-stop and made Zephyr feel like he was thirdwheeling without actually being - or bring some snacks for him as thank you gifts or just a way to look out for him.
And with her, Blue Flame was also there. His name was Fire Spirit, but got named like that because he always wore blue, even in the slightest. He didn't seem to have an actual interest on flowers or their meanings, he was just dragged by Luminous Coral to the flower shop to thirdwheel as well.
Blue Flame only started to willingly come to the shop when he found out Zephyr was friends with Moonlight, who talked enough about the florist for Blue to know that he was perfect to mess with. He never answers when asked how he took so long to connect the dots about this information.

But this part was from about when Zephyr was getting used to the job.

On the day of this story, it was close to Valentines day - meaning that many people would come to buy flowers for their loved ones, be them their partners or crushes. Zephyr was on the staff room, preparing himself for another busy day talking to people and trying not to get a headache with the loud noise of the crowds. He drank green tea with honey on a paper coffee cup, something Herb would give to him every day before he went to work.

"Ok... just a few days before Valentines day.. I can do this. Just ask and give the costumers what they want and receive the payment."

He was breathing in and out. He didn't have anxiety around crowds, he just wished that it wasn't more troublesome on holidays like Valentines day. Once calmer, he opens the door of the staff room and walks towards the little greenhouse of the flower shop. He checks on the flowers, if they weren't dehydrated or if they had enough sunlight, if they bloomed alright, and that stuff. He smiled to himself as he saw that his hard work was paying off, observing how the flowers were pretty. Finished, he takes out his phone and checks the hour.

"8:25 a.m.. I should get to work now.."

He sighs. He wishes he could close the shop earlier - or not open the shop at all - on that week, but he didn't want to look incompetent on Herb's eyes. So, with a slightly tired look on his eyes, he puts on an apron and gets a broom he always left at the staff room; it was convenient for him, apparently.
