How long is one minute and fifty-eight seconds?
Perhaps it is a long time. For a computer, one minute and fifty-eight seconds is an eon in which a million computations can be executed with ease.
Perhaps it is a short time. A meal or important conversation is barely possible. An impending assignment deadline comes all too soon.
In the context of a day, a few months, a year, or more than a decade, one minute and fifty-eight seconds is nothing - a moment in the span of a lifetime.
But what if one minute and fifty-eight seconds is the span of one's lifetime?
There was a being, once. It was born; it discovered the world. It learned to survive, to make friends. And then it was gone – all in one minute and fifty-eight seconds.
And yet, what if one minute and fifty-eight seconds can be enough time?
One minute and fifty-eight seconds can inspire another three and a half minutes. Then perhaps a further six minutes. And perhaps after that, hours and days, months and even years.
One minute and fifty-eight seconds can spark another life, and then another, and then many more. Can inspire happiness and amusement, sorrow and anger, resilience and courage. Can construct a canvas that will eventually fill with outlines, shapes, colour. Can create a universe.
One minute and fifty-eight seconds can bring joy to millions, connecting those who would have never crossed paths otherwise. Can spur on a myriad of imaginations to follow and explore, build and expand. Can inspire worlds layered upon ideas of worlds, branching in infinite directions.
There was a being, once. Its birth was like a spark on sawdust and its death a bit of fine ash that scatters in the wind. And yet, through its incredible legacy, the being lives.
