Genesis was in a mood today. It was almost like he was issued in a good mood and ShinRa had returned him grumpy. You had no idea what had caused him to be in this kind of mood. But, as his girlfriend, you had resolved to cheer him up.
Now, it wasn't that you minded that he was grumpy (heck, he was pretty cute when he was pouty.) But, it was the fact that he was dead silent and staring straight ahead, refusing to make any aknowledgement of your existence and eye contact. His arms were folded and his legs were crossed. As much as you should just let him wait to blow off his steam, you decided to speed up the process a little.
First, you hauled him over to the fireplace (emphasis on hauled, as he refused to get up and walk.) After making sure he was comfortable, you hurriedly ran to his bedroom and tore several fuzzy blankets off of his bed and out of his closet (it was winter, and Genesis hated being cold.) You shoved as many as you could in the dryer and hit start. It then hit you that the blankets would take a while, and unless you were going to try to encourage him, you needed to find something to busy yourself with. You started to brainstorm all of the things that made Genesis happy. With a quiet gasp you dashed out of the laundry room to other parts of your home.
"I brought you LOVELESS!" You chirped happily, setting it in his lap," Now, sit tight! I'll be right back!" You placed a gentle kiss to his forehead before rushing off into the kitchen.
"Two eggs, a teaspoon of vanilla, a cup of butter...Stir in chocolate chips." You murmured to yourself as you prepared something that absolutley had to cheer him up. Despite his prestigous position as a First-Class SOLDIER, he did have a mild affinity for some sweets. And some fresh, warm, and gooey chocolate chip cookies should do the trick.
After you had finished rolling them into little balls on the sheet, you put them in oven. You set the timer and rushed back in the laundry room.
The blankets were so hot that you had move your head to side to prevent inhaling the heat as you carried them to the living room. You set them down in a heap next to your boyfriend. Even though they stirred up enough air to ruffle his hair, he remained utterly unphased. You began the meticulous task of wrapping Genesis up in the blankets. You layered fleece upon fleece, making sure he was wrapped up tightly.
A point was reached where adding another blanket would either cause him to overheat or suffocate. But, Genesis was now as snug as a bug in a rug. With the fire going, he was also probably nice and toasty. You frowned as his mood refused to budge an inch into the realm of happiness. The cookies still had some time left. But, you though of something else that could be finished in the time the cookies would be, so, you hurried off once again into the kitchen.
You poured the steaming milk into the mug and started stirring it gently, watching as the white broth turned into a rich, chocolaty color. IT had been an incredibly cold winter thus far, and some hot chocolate was a perfect remedy to his winter blues. You added some Banora White syrup to the mix, just to perk him up a little bit more. And of course, some cream, and plenty of whipped cream.
You almost jumped when the timer for the cookies dinged.
The delicious aroma of freshly baked cookies wafted past your nose, and made you mouth water. You let them cool for a little bit, before sliding some of them onto a small plate.
"Three should be enough..." You said to yourself, "If he wants more, I can come and get him more." You couldn't help but eat one of the cookies you had prepared. Mmm, these were really going to put him in a better mood!
Also putting the hot chocolate on a plate, you walked it out to him and set it down in front of him.
"I made you some cookies and hot chocolate for you." You spoke sweetly, drawing back. You waited for him to dig into the treats you had prepared for him. Much to your dismay, Genesis didn't even bat an eyelash. He was still just as angry, and negelcted to awknowledge all of the things you had done to cheer him up. It left you feeling down and a little more than dejected. But, you weren't about to take on the same mood that he had. You figured that if he wanted to be Mr. Grumpy Pants, he could do it himself. You walked off, going to find something to vent into.
You returned a while a later, surprised to see that Genesis had taken a couple bites of a cookie and had downed some hot chocolate. Given what had transpired earlier, you hadn't at all expected him to do anything. But, the strange thing was, he was just as grumpy. Had he actually appreciated what you had done for him, but was too shy to do it in front of you? Was he trying to mask it with his anger? You would never know for certain. But, the one thing you did know, is that you loved to First-Class SOLDIER with all of your heart. No matter how happy or grumpy he was.
"Fine. If you're going to be angry and pouty, be that way. But, make some room while you're at it." You playfully scolded him as you peeled some of the blankets off of him. You crawled into his lap and curled up, but not before kissing his cheek. Once you were situated, you pulled the blankets over you and rested your head on his shoulder. Exhausted from your previous tasks, you quickly fell asleep.
Right after you had dozed off, the corner of Genesis' mouth twitched upwards into a smile, just a tad.
"Thank you, _____."
