Black bookshelves lined the horrid green walls.  The scent of books filled my nostrils as my childhood friend Levi and I strolled through the electronic sliding doors.  Our library was actually quite big for the small size of our town.  Dirty black carpet covered the creaky wooden floors they used to have  The check-in desk stood at the back of the room where three librarians sat on their phones.  Usually I wouldn’t bring Levi here; the only thing he’d ever read was magazines.

“Why do we always have to come here?” Levi moaned slumping into the library chair.  While I loved him, Levi was extremely impatient.  “The library is so boring!  We should do something actually fun  Why do you always drag me here, Brielle?.”  Boredom seemed to emanate from his words.  Maybe I should have just come alone.

"Levi, you can leave if you want.  I don't want to listen to you complain the whole time."  Levi shook his head, then totally zoned out on his phone.  With Levi distracted it was much easier to look for books.  It was the first day of summer so they had just gotten new books in.  My eyes scanned the shelves for an interesting title.  After picking out several books I wanted, I began towards the counter.  None of the librarians looked like they wanted to help me but the one on the left sighed and scanned my books.  In my perypherial vision I spotted a green book in one of the book displays.  Ritan?  It sounded interesting enough so I passed it to the woman who flicked it under the scanner.

She stared at the book for a moment and said, "Haven't seen this book before ,but my memory's not as good as it used to be."

We stepped out onto the warm pavement in search of Levi's car.  Finally after we had searched for a good three minutes I spotted Levi's red convertible at the very back of the lot.

Levi put up his phone and exclaimed excitedly, "Now that tha's done we can finally do something interesting.  Want to go to Marissa's party tonight?  I heard that she's going to have King's Beat playing there!"  I didn't want to bring down Levi's spirits but he needed to be reminded that there was no way we were getting into that party.

"Levi, that's an invitation only party.  Last time I checked neither of us got an invite."  A huge grin began to grow on his face as he started the engine.  "Please tell me you didn't do anything bad to get an invite."  The grin on his face continued to grow but, he refused to tell me anything more.

Finally, after a few moments of awkward silence Levi, almost jumping up and down, told  me, "Ok, I can't keep the secret anymore I have to tell you.  Marissa invited Payton, who invited Craig, who invited me and now I'm inviting you!  Isn't it great?!"  Parties really weren't my scene; I was more of a library type of girl.  But he just looked so excited with his bright red hair and sparkling big green eyes. The reason I liked Levi as a child was because with his bright hair and eyes; he looked a bit odd too.  My wavy chestnut brown hair paired with storm gray eyes isn't exactly normal looking.

"Fine, but I'm not staying for very long.  I have a trig test tomorrow."  Excitement radiated off of his smile as he pulled out of the lot and onto the street.  He dropped me off promising to pick me up for the party later, when my parents were asleep.

In the next hours my bed was covered in trig papers and notes.  Trig was really the only subject I didn't like, it's just so horrible.  Outside, I see Levi's car parked by my yard, waiting for me.  A few moments later I hear the thud of my parents closing their door.  I silently slipped on a simple purple dress and some heels then, I slung my tan bag over my shoulder and headed out the door.

The second I entered his car, Levi started chattering about the party, "You don't know how excited I am.  This party is going to be epic!."  I gave him a nod and a "yeah" every once in a while so he thought I was listening.  Thoughts of my trig notes sitting on my bed filled my head.  If I failed the test it would be his fault.
