Walking into school brought so memories back of the last school year, some happy and some I would rather not look back on. With my brother hot on my heel, I opened the front door to the building and walked inside, waiting as my brother quickly followed in. Remebering that we were both late, I pointed in the direction of the school office so Jake could sign in, or do whatever teachers do when they come into school in the morning.
As I walked down the hallway, all I could think about was him. I desperately wanted him out of my head, out of my life, for good. I did have him out, or at least I thought I did. Being the naive person I am, I didn't think about coming back to school and having to see him again, every single day until Christmas break. Walking past his locker in the school hallway didn't make it any better anyway, there was no way I could avoid it. His locker sat right next to my form, the empty classroom where our teacher slept and the students who were actually a somebody round school, rather than a nobody, talked away as if there was no tomorrow. And they wondered why the register was never taken.
Taking hold of the metal doorknob, I twisted it round so I could have entry into the classroom. Strangely, no noise was coming from inside. I frowned, I mean Sav must of been making some noise, she was is, I thought to myself. Pushing the door open, I was greeted by a flock of eyes all turning their heads to stare at me as if I just shot somebody.
"You're late." Spoke an unfamilar voice. Either one of the students decided to play teacher for the morning, or Mr. Stubbs, our normal form teacher, put on a female voice at a pityful chance to make us laugh.
"I uh.. there was traffic, sorry." I said, cluching onto my school books to my chest as they rested in my hands.
"Sit down, now." I did as I was told. I hadn't got a good look at the woman standing at the front class yet, but from what I heard of her, I knew we were not going to get along.
Sliding down the row of seats, I came to a stop as a saw a spare chair. Right in the middle of Tash and Sav, I plopped myself down, putting my school bag under my chair. If teachers learn anything at school, they shouldn't put three best friends in the same class, it just causes more trouble for them. Not like we're complaining though.
Placing my hands on my legs, I could now see the full view of the unfamiliar lady standing in front of us. Short brown hair that looked like she just got out of bed and didn't bother to brush it, a pointy sticky outy nose that looked too big for my liking and a pair of two big eyes that I could just tell, were for when she was using her death stare. Her makeup was done terribly and you could almost see the smugdes of foundation she had left on her wrinkly skin where she didn't rub in it properly enough that day, from the back where I was sitting. This was the look that completed our suspected new form tutor. I looked at her in disgust as I noticed, it was about to speak again.
"I am your new form tutor, my name is Ms. Weir. Not Ms. Wier or Ms. Weird, got it? Good." I hated her already.
A small voice came from the front row, the very voice that belonged to one Hannah Lowdes. She was the type of girl that spoken when she was spoken to, she was ever so quiet, I don't even think I've spoken to her myself. "What happened to Mr. Stubbs?" were the words that left her mouth.
"Left." Ms. Weir replied. Mr. Stubbs told us everything, when he was awake that is, but I'm pretty sure he would have told us if he was planning on leaving. He wasn't the best of teachers, but he was sure one of my favourites. He understood us students, and always looked at everything from our point of view, rather than just our own.
It was ony then I noticed that somebody was standing next to Ms. Weir. Had she been there the whole time and nobody noticed? Ms went and placed her hand on her shoulder, just to be flicked right off again. A few people in the class sniggered including me, only to get the death stare we all had been waiting for, from Ms. "Right, since yo were late", she started speaking, pointing at me like I was some animal off the street, "You can show her around. Come on, jump up."
I wasn't getting up for no-one.
It was only when Tash, who I nearly forgot was sitting next to me, she was so quiet, nudged me and I slowly rose to my feet. "Introduce yourself then." I glared at Ms. Weir as she kept setting me instructions.
"Amber Harrington." I said after about half a minute. Things were so tense in the classroom, I don't even think Sav would have volunteered to be here.
I saw a small smile escape the new girl's lips, she seemed alright, better than Hannah Lowdes, any day.
God, I sound bitchy, trust me, I'm not. I just quite stubborn.
The bell rang indicating the end of form time, and the start of the first lesson. I walked out of class with Tash and Sav by my side. "God, that was the worst 15 minutes of my life." I heard Sav sigh as she spoke, "And I have been through alot worse." I couldn't help but giggle then I realized the new girl was walking behind us.
Tash, being the kindest one out of all three of us, decided to stop and walk beside her. Ms Weir really should of picked her for the job she gave me, Tash would be so much better at it than myself. "Hey, I'm Natasha, but call me Tash." She grinned one of her smiles which instantly planted a smile on the girl's face. "What's your name?"
The girl looked over at Sav and I, before looking back at Tash. "Charlotte."
"That is such a pretty name! Do you want me to call you Charlotte or something shorter?" Tash was treating her like she was years younger than her actual age. To be honest, I don't think the new girl, or Charlotte minded.
"Most people back home call me Lottie. Lottie Tomlinson."
All our heads dropped instantly. What was Louis Tomlinson's little sister doing at our school? Out of every school she could of chosen, why ours? I didn't know why I didn't reconignse her, I've seen her in photos many times before, god I'm stupid. Louis was in the world famous boy band, One Direction, and his little sister was at our school! This was the best news I heard all day, but I wouldn't go too far to thank Ms. Weir for placing Lottie and I together.
The school bell rang again signalling that we should already be in our next class, whereas we were just gawping at Lottie, who was sheepishly looking at us back. This wasn't a bad first impression at all.
"Yeah, Louis Tomlinson's little sister. Look I don't want to be late for lessons, I'll catch up with you later." And with that, she ran off holding a map of the school trying to find her way around. I know I was meant to be showing her to her class, but I was too shocked to even begin to form words at the moment.
Tash, Sav and me shuffled to our next lesson, with the last conversation stuck boldly in our minds.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
I hope you liked it<3 It took me a while to write as I had a bit of writing block, I know and it's only the second chapter. I'll try to aim to get the next chapter up by Sunday!<3 I imagine Ms. Weir to look like Maggie Smith, but trust me I loooooooooove Maggie Smith to pieces. I actually based it on my english teacher, and Maggie Smith is the closest celebrity to look sort of like her, but I love Maggie Smith, don't get me wrong. For Lottie, I didn't know who to choose. Either AnnaSophia Robb or Barbara Palvin? I don't know, any help? :( My twitter is @katiebatesx follow me maybe?;) I FOLLOW BACK!
Much love, Katie xox
