We've been at Beverly and Johns' for a week now. I can tell they're a bit overwhelmed with Chase. He's too crazy for them. They can barely keep up. And he keeps asking about mom. I don't know what's going on with her. I don't know if they've caught her or not. Bev won't tell me anything.

" Chase please sit down. It's dinner time-no! Don't-" Bev's eyes widen as Chase accidentally drops one of her glass birds. She lets out a sigh and rubs her forhead.

" Hey Chase come here. " I make my way towards him. " You can't do that. "

Chases' eyes widen and he pouts. " I'm sorry. I didn't mean to Gabbie. I'm sorry. "

Bev makes her way towards us with a dust pan as the doorbell rings. " Just please go sit down. I'll pick this up. "

We quietly sit at the table while we wait for John and Beverly.

" Hey kids, Miss Bell is here. " John leads Miss Bell into the dining room. " She needs to talk to you two. "

Miss Bell smiles as she sits down across from us. " Hi kids. So I've been looking around for some relatives and we found one. "

I glance over at Chase. Are they going to take both of us?

" Gabriella, we were able to locate your father. He lives in the city about 4 miles away from here. You've got an older brother too. " She smiles. " And he's agreed to take you in. "

I feel like my heart freezes. What? Mom said he'd left though? Why would he take us in? This makes no sense. " What? "

" Gabbie you have a daddy! " Chase grins. " Yay we get to meet your daddy! "

" Tomorrow I'll be picking you guys up and driving you to his house. " Miss Bell smiles.

I shake my head. " No. I don't want to go. I-I don't know him. "

Miss Bell sighs. " I'm sorry kid, but..." She glances at John and Bev. " your dad really wants to see you again. I think you'll like it there. He's a nice man and...he's really excited to see you. Your brother is too. "

" I already have a brother. Chase. I don't need another one. And I don't need some stupid guy who left me and my mom. I don't want to go. "

Miss Bell pulls out a picture from a yellow manila folder she walked in with. " I'm sorry but you have to go. Here. That's your dad and your brother. I'll be by tomorrow morning to pick you two up. " With that, Miss Bell stands up and whispers a few things to John and Bev before saying goodbye. " Just give them a chance, Gabriella. They're not that bad. "

I glance down at the picture Miss Bell left behind. A brown, curly haired man peers back at me. We have the same eyes.

Next to him is an older boy with blonde hair. He's got my mom's angry eyebrows and blonde hair. He looks unamused in the photo. The two are standing in front of a nice car with a big house behind them. Is that where they live?

Oh boy.
