the café gave me a free meal. i devoured it within 10 minutes, desperate for some source of energy. i felt so much better after eating, my mood instantly boosting. i go to the staff and thanked them the best i could for the free food.

my eyes flicked around to see the blondie sitting, still enjoying his black coffee. i walk over to him. "thanks. i actually appreciate it," i say, squatting down to meet his eye level. he glances over at me and i see the ghost of that smirk before he finishes up his coffee and grabs his backpack. "rude." i get up to go pack my things.

i put my headphones on as i walk to my car, playing cheshire by itzy. i drive back to my apartment, trying not to get mad at the traffic of shibuya. it's almost 1 p.m. so the lunch crowd is insane.

i unlock my door, turning on the lights. my stuff gets placed on the dining table and i immediately go to my room to change.

after i change into a t-shirt and some sweatpants, i go to take my makeup off. i put my hair put in a low bun and start washing my face. just as i finish, the lights flicker off and the water stops running.

"shit," i mumble. "did i forget to pay the bills again? well, i guess this is what i get working as a dance coverist." i grab my phone to call my landlord, but it won't turn on. "seriously? i swear it was at like, 60% ten minutes ago." i plug my phone in to the charger but it doesn't show any signs it's actually charging.

"ugh, why is nothing working?" i pocket my phone and put on my shoes. i try to use the elevator but it doesn't work. "is there a power outage or something?" i scurry down the stairs to ask the front desk for help. no one's there. "i swear, did everyone in tokyo just plan one big hangout and decide to ditch me?" i roll my eyes.

"hello? anyone here? is there no power in the whole city or is it just us?" i walk around the desk cautiously, trying to peek around to see if anyone's there. no one answers so i go in to the staff room and it's empty. weird.

i walk out the door and realise i can't hear the usual traffic of tokyo. i raise an eyebrow and walk around. "what the fuck is happening?" my hands go in my pockets as an instinct, trying to bare the cold. i decide to go back in the building to change and grab a jacket.

after changing, i pack some basic survival supplies; first aid kit, tent, my backup food and water, several changes of clothes, taser, pocket knife, a pistol and a few more things.

i go back down and try to start my car. as expected, the ignition doesn't work. i settle on walking to the heart of tokyo and trying to figure things out there.
