Josephine Winchester was practically the living stereotype of a 'normal' teen girl. She was always obsessed with the latest fashion trends, wanting to emulate every outfit that was promoted in the celebrity magazines. She had a dozen posters of her favourite boy band in her bedroom. She spent an outrageous amount of time on her hot pink cell phone and she loved rom coms as they would allow her to dream about her own picture perfect love story.
Many people paid no attention to the teen girl, believing that she was just merely a follower and only inhibited characteristics that were rooted in popular trends. But nobody realized that underneath that 'boring' exterior was a secret that had the potential to shatter everything that they had ever known about her and the entire world. Nobody knew that her stereotypical appearance was to cover up the fact that she was actually a vampire slayer.
Once the night had fallen, Josephine would shed her teen girl persona and become the slayer that she was always destined to be. Her usual bubbly personality was replaced with pure brutality and the instinct to hunt. She greeted her victims with a stone cold stare and a stake straight to the heart, twisting it to prolong their suffering. She was born into the hunt and that was an obligation that she had to fulfil, no matter how young she may be.
But despite her commitment to slaying, she could not escape from the all of responsibilities that were tied to teenage hood, especially high school. She was still forced to attend class every day and complete her work, even if her main focus was on preparing for the hunt. Even if she had spent the entire night in the graveyard, only catching a few hours of sleep, she was still expected to get up early to attend class.
And that is why Josephine was struggling to keep her full attention on the biology lesson that was being taught on the chalkboard. The intense feeling of exhaustion was beginning to gnaw at her already weak body. She had barely been able to get enough sleep due to her slaying obligations. She was often forced to forgo sleeping, in order to patrol the town and ensure its safety from vampires.
Her eyes felt heavy, desperate to shut out the bright world that surrounded her and allow sleep to take its place instead but she had to fight the overwhelming urge, knowing that she was bound to receive a scolding from the teacher. She had a bad habit of falling asleep in the middle of class, which had not gone unnoticed by faulty and her pile of detentions was beginning to become a concern.
Josephine leaned against her arm, allowing herself to rest for a moment. She had even allowed herself to close her eyes, hoping the moment of darkness would be enough to appease the screaming thoughts for sleep. Her rest was short-lived though, being interrupted by the obnoxious ringing of the school bell. She just let out a depleted sigh, moving slowly to pack up her belongings, which had barely been touched due to her lack of attention.
