DANI'S P.O.V.

"Dani? Dani?" said Doctor Anderson.

"Hm??"

"How are you feeling?"

"Good, but I can't feel my legs."

"I know. Dani, you won't be able to walk anymore."

Thats the wakeup call I get? I start tearing up after thinking about what I won't be able to do. I wouldn't be able to play with my friends or with my dog, Sparky.

"Shh. It's okay Dani."

"No its not Doctor Anderson."

"It is Dani. Now, you'll have to stay here at the hospital for a while."

"How long?"

"Three months."

Great. I'm stuck in this place for three months. At least its better than the alley. I look at Doctor Anderson as she cheeks my blood pressure.

"You'll be fine Dani."

"Okay. I trust you."

Doctor Anderson is like my second mother. Actually, she is like my mother, except she didn't leave me on the street.

"I'm glad you do Dani. Oh! Before I forget. Tomorrow someone is coming to visit the children here at John's Hopkins."

"Who?"

"I don't know. No one knows who."

"Why do they come?"

"Well, they come to make the children happy."

"That's nice of them."

"It's very nice," said Doctor Anderson as she sat on the side of my bed, "and they bring toys too."

"Like what??"

"Well, anything. Now you need to sleep."

"When are they coming?"

"Today at 5 PM."

"What time is it?"

"Noon."

"Okay."

Doctor Anderson kisses my forehead and pulls the blankets over me.

"Now go to sleep."

I close my eyes and hear Doctor Anderson turn the lights off then close the door. I think about everything that happened today, then fell asleep.
