You stood there, stunned and confused. Based on what little you knew, Chaos wasn't someone to go off alone with... but you had your own questions to ask. You also had things to say.
"Do we have to go on our own?" You asked.
"Alone. I hate it when others listen in." Chaos replied.
"Y/N..." Mahad whispered.
"I'll be alright... I think." You told him.

Mahad sighed. He nodded. "Fine. Go, but if you don't come back in 15 minutes, I'll come looking for you." He said.
"Deal." You said, letting him take the injured magician back to the others. You turned back to Chaos.
"I'll be back in a bit." He told the others, before grabbing your arm. You both suddenly disappeared, appearing behind another building, where nobody else was around.

You gulped. It was eerily quiet compared to where you were before. Maybe this was a bad idea.
Chaos saw you become tense. "Oh relax, I'm not going to hurt you." He said.
"Huh...?" You were confused. Chaos clearly didn't care what he did to anyone else.
"I just wanted to ask you about those quick reflexes of yours." He said, strangely calm.
You didn't reply.
"They're impressive. You'd make a good Chaos causer if you know what you're doing." Chaos continued.
"What? Why would I want to be like that?!" You asked, disgusted.
Chaos leaned against the building. He smirked. "You can get away with anything with my job." He said. "Everyone else is scared of you."

You'd noticed his voice shook a little while he finished that last sentence. It only made you wonder more about that illusion. "I have my own question." You said.
"Oh?"
You took a deep breath. "Why is your illusion communication symbol... a broken black heart?" You asked.
Chaos paused a moment. "Every monster's symbol has a meaning..." he muttered. He wasn't as confident as he was before.
"I know that, but what's yours?" You asked.
Chaos ignored you and turned away.

You thought to yourself for a minute. Clearly Chaos had something going on he hadn't told you, or anyone for that matter. "You don't have to say." You told him. "I was only curious..."
"You newbies ask too many questions..." he sighed.
"I'm sorry."

Chaos looked at you. "What?"
"I'm sorry." You repeated.
Chaos stopped leaning against the wall and stared at you, unsure. "Sorry? You're... apologising?"
"Well... yeah. I made you uncomfortable."
"You have to be lying." Chaos said.
"Why would I lie?" You asked.

Chaos shook his head. "Never mind... Y/N, was it? Just leave it alone."
You wondered why he was acting strange. Then it clicked. "Chaos... have you never had a genuine apology before?" You asked, concerned.
"Why do you care?"
You gave him a soft smile. "I have no reason not to."
"Of course you do. Surely you know what they say about me."

You shook your head. You knew everyone was scared of Chaos, but you'd not heard anything else.
"I hurt that magician."
"So?" You asked. "You aimed your magic at the building right? Not him."
Chaos paused. "Why are you making excuses for me?"
"I'm not, I'm using common sense." You replied.
"This isn't normal..."

You looked at him worriedly. You reached out to hold his hand. "I'm being nice to you..." you said quietly.
Chaos pulled his hand away quickly. "No! I'm in no mood to fight."
You gasped. "I'm sorry... I was going to comfort you. That's all." You told him.
"What?"

You reached your hand out again, but didn't reach for his hand. "You sounded upset. I want to make you feel better." You said, taking things slowly.
Chaos stared at you. "Why?" He asked quietly.
"I'm being kind, Chaos..." you replied.
Chaos scoffed and turned away. "Don't pretend you're not like everyone else."
You had no reply to that. It was strange to you to meet someone who didn't understand what kindness was.

You heard others calling for you around the corner. "Go." Chaos told you. "They'll come looking for me if you don't."
You nodded and began to walk away. You stopped as you went to turn around the corner.
"Chaos..."
"What?" He sighed, rolling his eyes.
"This probably isn't worth anything to you, but... I'm not scared of you." You told him.

You then turned the corner and left, leaving Chaos behind the building.
