Okay, I'm so sorry this took a damn minute but boy oh boy PA school is a lot. Three weeks in and we've had 15 quizzes and an exam (with four more exams in the next two weeks.) I haven't been able to write much at all which is sad because I've been desperate to work on my original fantasy story but I promise this DEFINITELY takes priority since you all are waiting on it!

Anyway, here's the next chapter. I've also got an X reader smut piece almost finished that will hopefully be up in the next week so stay tuned for that!

Also I probably sound like a broken record on this but I PROMISE this story will be finished—updates are just going to be slow.

I zipped up my BSAA jacket just as Chris burst into the room, his eyes wide. I turned on my heel in a flash, staring at the suddenly disheveled man with wide eyes.

"Jesus Chris, what the hell?" I yelped, "Chris, I could have been–"

"It's Rebecca. Someone put in a call saying that her lab is under attack," He didn't wait for my response as he whirled, launching himself down the stairs.

"Shit," I hissed, grabbing my socks and gun holster before chasing after him. I didn't bother stopping to put my shoes on, opting to scoop them up before slamming the front door closed behind me. The air was unusually chilly, even for this time of year. The cold tarmac bit into my bare feet as I jumped into Chris' already running vehicle.

"What do we know?" I asked, slipping on my socks and boots as Chris tore down the street like a mad man.

"Most of the students were out, but Rebecca, a few members of her team, and a handful of others were in the building when some kind of gas appeared," Chris said, focusing on the road, his jaw tight.

"Gas...you don't think it's...?"

"Maybe. He did take over Neo-Umbrella's dealings so I'm sure he had access to the C-virus, but he'd be pretty stupid to use it considering we've mapped its entire sequence."

"A new strain?"

"Doesn't explain how he was able to control them," Chris ground out, recalling his mission months ago. He'd said Arias was able to walk right past a whole group of the undead without them batting a rotting eye. 'My products know the difference between friend and foe'. That's what he told Chris.

"Team on route?"

"Silver daggers, they should get there around the time we do," The muscle in his jaw ticked as he stared at the road ahead.

His eyes did not move from that paved street until we arrived at the campus of Alexander Institute of Biotechnology. On the outside, it seemed as if the students were off on spring break. All the lights, from the ground floor to the fourth, were out, obscuring any movement from the inside. I grit my teeth as Chris hauled the car to a standstill.

Chris was out of the car before the tires stopped squealing. I followed close behind, muscling my way through the growing crowd of reporters and passersby that gathered to gawk at the military presence.

When we neared the front, cameras and microphones shot out from the crowd, accompanied by a slew of questions. The voices blurred together as microphones pushed in, making the air impossibly thick around me. Sweat was beading at the back of my neck as I began falling behind, blocked by shoulder and microphones.

"What's going on?"

"Can you tell us the situation?"

"How many are dead?"

Reporters spat loaded questions at me, barely noticing more than the BSAA patch on my chest as I called Chris's name. He'd progressed a few feet in front of me, cut off by the converging bodies of more reporters and news junkies.
