The village of Hanyang was a flurry of activity as dawn broke over its ancient walls. The news of King Jeongguk's visit had spread like wildfire, igniting a blend of excitement and reverence among its residents. Yoongi's family, renowned bakers of the town, were no exception. Their usually bustling bakery was now an epicenter of meticulous preparations, each member playing their part in ensuring that every detail was perfect.

Today was no ordinary day; it was a day of possibility and hope, as the family prepared to present their daughters to the King in the hopes that one might be chosen as his bride. The weight of this potential honor hung in the air, adding an extra layer of tension to the already momentous occasion.

Yoongi stood at the edge of his family's courtyard, the early morning sun casting a warm glow over the bustling streets of Hanyang. At seventeen, he was on the cusp of adulthood, with dreams that stretched far beyond the walls of their well-off household. His family, known throughout the town for their exquisite pastries and breads, had established a reputation as the finest bakers in Hanyang.

Nearby, his father, a man of quiet strength and immense skill, supervised the baking with a keen eye. Once a revered general in the army of King Jeongguk's father, he had traded his sword for a baker's paddle, channeling his discipline and precision into the art of baking. Now, the scents of freshly baked bread and pastries filled their home, a testament to his dedication and a stark contrast to his former life on the battlefield.

His mother, with her gentle yet firm demeanor, managed both the household and the bakery with grace, ensuring that every loaf was perfect. Yoongi's two older sisters, each unique in their own way, added to the family's dynamic. His oldest sister, Minhee, at twenty-four, was a talented seamstress, her delicate hands as adept with a needle as they were with kneading dough. The second oldest, Hana, at twenty, had a keen business sense, often managing the bakery's accounts and dealings with a sharp mind and a warm smile.

The air was thick with the rich, comforting scent of freshly baked bread, mingling with the sweet aroma of pastries that were destined to impress. Yoongi's father worked tirelessly, his experienced hands crafting intricate designs on loaves that would soon be presented to the King. His mother orchestrated the activity with her usual grace, while Minhee and Hana, dressed in their finest hanboks, moved with a blend of anticipation and nervousness.

"Yoongi, please wear your new jeogori I have prepared for you" comes the voice of Minhee, Yoongi's oldest sister. "We are to impress the King, according to mother" she continues, patting down his messy hair that seems to never be tidy.

"You and Hana are to impress him, Minhee" Yoongi tuts, squatting her hand away, and pats his own hair down instead. "I am purely just there for support."

"True" Minhee says, tucking loosened hair back in her bun. "But the entire family is to make an impression."

"His Majesty knows father though" Yoongi says, "Father needs no good impression. Father was the most skilled warrior to the late King Jeonjin."
