The doorbell made Kendall snap his head up from his homework. "I'll get it!" he called.

He rushed down the stairs and ran to the front door. He flung open the door coming face to face with the brunette on the other side. Reagan smiled at him while holding up a bag of barbecue Lay's and a two liter bottle of Dr. Pepper.

"Ready for date night!" she said, giving the items a light shake.

Kendall smiled back at her. "Come on in m'lady" He stepped back gesturing to the room behind him. She laughed as she stepped through the door. She ducked out of sight as she sat the snacks on the counter in the kitchen.

Kendall grinned at her again when she came back.

"What?" The smile was still stuck on her face.

"Oh, nothing much. Only that I think you're way too excited to watch my baby sister."

"Shut up!" She gave him a shove. "I love Katie."

"I'm starting to think you love her more than me."

Reagan smirked at Kendall. "Maybe I do. Maybe I'm only dating you to see her."

Kendall fake gasped. "Ouch. Words hurt, you know?" He put one of his hands over his heart. They both started to laugh.

"Seriously though, thank you for coming."

"Anything for my Knight in shining armor." She pecked him on the lips. "Now, where is that mother of yours? I want to say hello before she has to leave."

Mrs. Knight walked into the entryway. "She's right here."

Reagan gave the woman a hug. "Hey, Mama Knight, how are you doing?"

"Busy, busy, busy!" The woman responded, gesturing to her waitressing uniform. "But otherwise good. Thank you so much for doing this with Kendall. Katie loves having you around."

"No, need to thank me, I can't wait to get this party started!"

Mrs. Knight laughed at the girl. "Well, I'll get out of your hair in a minute!" She turned her head toward the stairs. "Katie! Come and say goodbye to your mother!"

The pat, pat, pat, of small feet hitting the floor above echoed in the house. The stairs thunked as the nine-year-old raced down. She launched herself into her mother's arms, holding tight.

"Have a good night mom. Love you!"

Mrs. Knight hugged her back with just as much enthusiasm. "I love you too, sweetheart. Now, you better be good for the two lovebirds over there," she said.

"I promise." Mrs. Knight didn't doubt it for a second. Katie had never acted up when Kendall watched her. She slowly detached herself from the little girl and gave her son a hug.

"I'll see you later. Love you."

"I love you too, mom."

Jen smiled at him. "I better get going. Wouldn't want to be late for my shift!" The woman was a whirlwind of movement as she threw on her jacket and shoes. She was out the door before any of them could realize that she'd finished getting ready.

"I'll be in my room playing on my DS!" Katie said. She left as fast as she'd arrived.

Kendall clapped his hands together. "Okay, considering it's only..." He trailed off as he checked the clock. "...four thirty, I say we watch some TV before starting dinner."

Reagan immediately jumped on the opportunity. "Yes! And, guess what day it is?"

"Uh, Friday-"

"And that means?"

Kendall's whole face brightened when he realized. "The next episode of The Mentalist is on!"

Kendall dove for the remote in the living room while Reagan flopped on the couch. He turned the channel to CBS and the teens waited for the episode to start. They leaned forward in their chairs as the episode started, a man dragging something down the street, something which he claimed to be a bag of potatoes.

_______

Reagan turned to Kendall at the end of the episode. "I would pay the producers a million dollars to see the next episode right now."

Kendall chuckled and pecked the girl on the nose. "Well, unfortunately you don't have a million dollars so you'll just have to wait another week like the rest of us peasants." Reagan laughed as she stood up from the sofa.

"Well, lover boy, I think it's as good a time as any to start dinner." She strode off into the kitchen and Kendall was quick to follow. She turned around as soon as she entered the doorway of the room. "What are we cooking?"

Kendall shrugged and nudged his way past her. He started to open some of the cupboards to see what they had. "What about spaghetti?" he asked, reaching in and pulling out the box of noodles. "I'm pretty sure we have some sauce around here somewhere."

"I'll get the pot, you get the sauce," Reagan said. She swept up a pot from next to the sink where it had recently been cleaned and filled it up with some water to boil. As she lit the stove, she started to hum to herself. The tune was Fly Me To the Moon by Frank Sinatra. She danced a little bit as she put the pot over the flame.

Kendall smiled and set down the sauce he had found on the counter. He stepped in behind his girlfriend, wrapped an arm around her waist and spun her around to face him. He started to sing with her. "Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars."

Her laughter tinkled like a fairy as she joined in singing the words aloud this time. "Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars." Kendall spun her around as they sang. They both started to laugh as they danced to the band playing in their heads.

Kendall spun her close and brought his face in close as he sang one of the last lines. "In other words, I love you." He kissed her quickly and she lightly shoved him back, breaking out to sing the start to the last verse. Kendall watched in slight awe as she sang and twirled around the kitchen. Her eyes were positively glowing, her hair whipping around her face perfectly. She glanced at him, and he mimed the saxophone solo they both knew occurred at about this time. She lit up even more, and Kendall could only think that nothing would make him trade this girl for anything. Her beauty amplifying with her joy.

"Fill my heart with song." Her voice would forever enchant and haunt him. He broke in after the next line, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her as close as possible.

"You are all I long for...All I worship and adore." And the antics had quieted as they settled for swaying slightly along.

"In other words, please be true." She smiled as she sang the line, softly, so softly, like the world would shatter if it was heard.

"In other words, I love you." Kendall smiled into the proper kiss this time. They sat there for a few minutes in each others arms unaware of the small audience they had gained. Katie peeked in from the doorway having observed most of the interaction. She'd come down to inquire about the state of dinner, and instead had stumbled into an exclusive Sinatra concert. She smiled as she saw Reagan turn back to continue dinner, and the ways her brother's eyes followed her. He was so whipped. Quietly, Katie turned back around to head up to her room, the laughs of two teenagers echoing behind her.
