As he reached the outskirts of the town, a storm raged, and he found himself taking refuge under a tree. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the tree, and Jack was killed instantly. It seemed that the universe had shown him the end of his journey and the result of his wandering. His body was discovered by some local people and given a decent burial.
