When I Finally Met Love

I had once before thought I knew Love

But she obviously didn't know me

So when I first laid eyes on you

I was guarded when I thought it was meant to be

I shied away from you at first

Though when we talked it was like we were best friends

We would talk and laugh and smile

As we spoke of different odds and ends

But I still guarded my heart with care

Not wanting to make another mistake

Yet each time I saw you, my heart would throb

A smile on my face, you would make

Though the feelings grew stronger still

I continued to shy away from my resolve

That maybe I really did love you

You certainly gave me an interesting mystery to solve

And as time continued on

My feelings expanded and grew

And then one day, Love knocked on the door of my heart

And I just knew

That nothing on this Earth

Will ever compare

To the love that I hold for you

And hope you will one day share
