2 weeks later
Dean walked around to the back of the Impala and threw his bags in the back seat. Smiling, he patted himself down and mentally went through his checklist.
"Phone. Wallet. Keys. Gun."
Removing the keys from his pocket, he stared at them almost sadly.
"Hey," a voice called and he smiled; it always felt like entire galaxies were exploding into life across his soul just hearing that ethereal voice. He turned around and immediately saw Artemis.
"Hey!" Dean walked over to her and picked her up, smiling as he spun her around and kissed her. Setting her down, he caressed the side of her face.
Artemis looked up at him, a sad smile crossing her face.
"I wish you could stay. But... Dean.."
She stopped and closed her eyes as Dean reached up to brush a strand of hair from her face.
"I know.."
Artemis sighed and leaned into his hand.
"I gotta get going," he said sadly and Artemis smiled gently. "Sam found a case in Ohio. I have to get him at the airport later." Laughing gently, Artemis reached up and caressed his face.
"You have so many more adventures ahead of you. If you ever get to the end of the road, pop by and look me up."
"I will never forget what we shared. For as long as I live," Dean whispered and gently hooked her chin with his fingers. Pulling her to look at him, Dean kissed her passionately. Artemis leaned back against the Impala as Dean pushed his body up against hers.
Gasping, Artemis placed her hand gently on his chest; she could feel the scar from where the arrow pierced his chest through his shirt and it made her breath catch in her throat.
She smiled at him and traced his lips with her finger gently, reveling in hearing his breath hitch as she did so.
"Look for me in the stars," she whispered, and pulled him in for one last kiss as she dropped a thick padded envelope into the back seat of the Impala.
Sam threw his pack in the backseat and gave Dean a confused look as he got in the Impala.
"So, wait. Like the Goddess Artemis?" Sam asked and Dean smiled.
"Oh, yea, Sammy. She was fucking... Mmmf... "
"Please don't make those noises while I'm in the car..."
"Sammy, she was perfect."
"Okay, but, you died. Again. Aren't you just a little worried that you're flying too close to the sun?"
"First off, Icarus is a dumbass. Second, I got to bang a goddess and you're worried about me dying. Get your priorities straight, Sam."
The Impala rumbled down the highway towards their next job. The clear, moonless night allowing for the Orion constellation to shine brightly over them.
