They say time is the secret to healing. Have you ever heard that saying before ? I have...many many times.

I'm Lani I'm 23 years old and I would love to say I'm your average girl...well I look pretty average on the outside. I'm 5'2, hazel eyes, short wavy hair and tan skin living in Malibu california. Sounds pretty average huh ? Well I'm mentally fu*ked up.

I make my way to my normal spot on the beach and pull out my smoking pipe. I'm just in time for the sun to set. I take a couple hits and let myself soak in the sand on my feet and the sounds of the ocean waves. I look at the sun setting in the far distance and I start reminiscing on Jonah..let's take a trip down memory lane.

I had known Jonah since I was 10 years old. He had moved here from Tx,  I had been partnered to show him around the classroom. He was shy and timid meanwhile I was outgoing and loved to talk and make new friends. From that day forward we became inseparable. It wasn't till 7th grade that I started to notice how cute Jonah was. He had bright green eyes with brown hair and was starting to hit a growth spurt. We did everything together. We started dating 8th grade year right after we kissed for the first time at the school dance I'll never forget what he whispered to me in my ear "Lani you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen" .

He was my first kiss my first boyfriend my first everything. We were that couple everyone adored. He was my bestfriend and my soulmate all in one. We never argued he always communicated with me. One of the things I loved most about him was he reminded me how much he loved me everyday. He was my person. My high school sweetheart and the person I wanted to marry and have kids with.

Jonah got a BMW for his 18th birthday just a week after graduation. We had planned to go on a long road trip and just see where the road takes us. We didn't get to...the night he got his car we went back roading we loved looking at all the trees and natural nature. When we made it back to town another BMW was right beside us and the guy asked Jonah if he wanted to race. Jonah wasn't the type to try and race but seeing as he got a new car he agreed. Jonah was in the lead when all of a sudden he lost control of the wheel, my life flashed before my eyes and I held onto Jonahs hand as the car proceeded to flip 3 times.

I woke up in the hospital my body aching, my first thought was to ask if Jonah was okay. My mom gave me the news that he was on life support. I had felt my whole world collapsing.

3 days later we all gathered in Jonahs room. 3 days was no where near enough time to let the love of my life go. I watched as he was out off life support and took his last breath. My sweet handsome boy was gone. I looked out in the distance towards the window and I seen the most beautiful sunset. All sounds around me went quiet, I could hear a distant voice. It was Jonahs "I love you forever Lani be strong I'll see you in another lifetime". Suddenly I was back to reality. I looked around the room and everyone was crying. I felt numb. It than hit me that the love of my life was gone. I had to be strong for not only myself but for Jonahs family.

Back to present Day
I continue to take a couple more hits from my pipe. I can't help but think of what life could have been like if Jonah was still here. It's been 5 years since he's left me and still find it hard to cope with it. "You bastard why would you leave me to be miserable" I said to the sunset. It's the only way I felt at home with him. Not even visiting his grave felt as comfortable as the sunset.

"Who are you talking to" said a voice in the distance laughing.

I turn around and see a tall guy standing behind me.

"Oh nobody just myself" I said nervous

"Hmmm that's cute"  he said with a smirk
"I'm Ezra and you are ?"

I smiled and suddenly I can't think of my name I felt my stomach drop.
