Eobard Thawne (Flash) AU

Chapter 1

There were always times where the team would have to make a tough decision. It almost always happened when Eobard Thawne showed up. You felt for Barry. No matter how many times he'd defeated him, somehow he would always come back. But this time, it felt different. 

Like this was it. The last time Thawne would get his way.

They needed someone connected to the speedforce to severe his abilities. The only problem was, surviving wasn't guaranteed. Cisco's device had started out as a test. But when he ran through the calculations, ultimately the plan had been scrapped. Because they couldn't risk anyone's life. Cisco grabbed a hammer to destroy the device. That's when you knew.

You knew that Barry couldn't do it. The world needed him, Iris needed him. This team needed him.

When you sped over and grabbed the device out of Cisco's hand, they all flinched.

"(Y/N).."

Barry looked shocked. A part of you felt guilty. But you had to be the one to do it. Before you'd met this team, you had no one. Gaining these powers may have been an accident, but you finally had a family. You weren't about to sacrifice that.

"Tell Joe I'm gonna miss his lasagna."

The streak of your lightning lit up the room, and Barry went chasing after you without a second thought. Using your lightning, you completely shattered the control on Eobard's prison. He grinned, that same malicious one you'd seen so many times. 

He came straight at you, and you kept the device hidden behind your back until it was too late. The second you were within reach, you grabbed his hand, generating as much as the speed force as you could in your palm as you slapped it against his chest. His grin immediately changed to surprise, then fear. His screams echoed throughout the room, and so did yours.

Barry didn't even make it within three feet. Both you and Eobard dropped to your knees, and the buildup of lighting sent Barry flying into the opposite direction. When Cisco and the others came racing forward, they could only watch as the red and pink sparks seemed to be at war with each other.

Barry was picking himself up off the ground.

"(Y/N)!!"

You could faintly hear his screams.

"YOU'LL KILL US BOTH!!"

Eobard's words just made you smile. You never released his hand, not until the end.

Not until you could no longer feel any strength in your body. Your eyes slid shut and you collapsed. The last thing you saw was the tearful looks of the people you'd grown to care about.

Barry watched helplessly as both you and Eobard disappeared in an assortment of golden particles.
