Rain's POV:
I was so tired. We had an exit exam today and it was so difficult!
It was English and I couldn't understand a lot of it.
My phone buzzed and distracted me from my thoughts.
[MESSAGES]
MOM: I'm at your house. Where are you? Can't even greet your mother?
RAIN: don't bother staying. Leave. You can't possibly call yourself a mother after abandoning me.
[END OF MESSAGES]
She couldn't possibly be there.
I prayed that she wasn't there because all the memories would come back.
Her locking me in the bathroom when I was too loud or her hitting me if she was mad.
Tears pricked my eyes as my phone buzzed again
[MESSAGES]
P'PHAYU: Baby? Do you want me to pick you up? I'm not busy.
RAIN: Yeah! That'd be great 😃!
P'PHAYU: Ok. I'll be there in 5
[END OF MESSAGES]
A small smile formed on my face as P'Phayu pulled up.
"Hey baby! How was your exit exam today?" He said as I buckled my seatbelt
"It was really good!" I said.
"P'Phayu. Would you mind dropping me at my house? My birth mother is there and I need to run her off." I said quickly.
"Yeah of course! Do you want me to wait in the car for you?" He asked as we pulled up to my house.
"If you don't mind." I said and kissed him on the cheek as I got out.
I walked up my driveway and sure enough, her little blue car was there.
She was sitting on my front porch Infront of the door.
She looked up at me with angry eyes as I approached her.
She got up, threw her cigarette down, and slapped me hard across the face.
"Leave. Now. You don't have any reason to be here." I said bluntly.
"I need money. I'm not leaving until you give me some."
What could she possibly need it for this time? I thought as I stared at her in disbelief
"Well?? Hurry up! I got places to be!"
She yelled.
I still didn't respond.
She slapped me again
"NOW!!" She screamed and I heard a car door shut.
We both turned and saw P'Phayu walking up to us
"Baby? Are you alright?" P'Phayu asked worriedly as he gently caressed the cheek she slapped.
"Baby?? Oh that makes perfect sense! That's all you are! A slut who spreads his legs for men! Didn't I tell you when you were younger that you aren't allowed to be gay?!!" She yelled and tears started forming in my eyes.
"P-p'Phayu? I d-dont w-want to be here w-with her."
I said in a quiet voice and P'Phayu didn't say another word, he just turned us around and walked off while my mother was screaming insults at us.
Once we got in the car, I felt numb. I wasn't hurt by her insults. I wasn't mad. I just didn't feel anything
P'Phayu suddenly grabbed my hand as he was driving and scared me.
"Are you alright baby?" He asked in a worried tone.
"Yeah. I'm fine. I just never got the chance to come out to her. My dad left when I was 3 so I didn't need to worry about his opinion and I don't really need to worry about hers.
She left when I was 9 and I had to fend for myself until I was picked up by a adoption center. Her words didn't hurt me. I just don't know how to get her away from my house now.
She isn't going to leave until I give her the money she's asking for."
I said and squeezed his hand slightly.
" How much is she asking for?" He asked after a few moments of silence.
"She asks for the same every time. ฿600,000.
I gave it to her once and I was in debt for the rest of the month. I'm not doing it again." I said and I heard him take in a breath.
" Why does she do this to you?" He asked in a pained voice.
" Because she thinks she has some kind of control over my life and what I do but she doesn't." I said bluntly
" Do you want to go to my house?" He asks softly.
"If it isn't to much trouble?" I ask, not wanting to be a burden to him
" Baby. It will never be too much trouble for me to take you home with me. Okay? Never think that about yourself. You aren't a burden to me okay baby?" He said so soft as he patted my thigh.
"Okay." I mumbled.
