CHAPTER 4

The D' Day

All the preparations were done as it was the wedding day. Anshika was getting ready in her room. She was wearing a maroon red lehnga, jewelleries with green stones and beads, her grey eyes decorated with kohl, mascara and other eye products with a veil over her head. She was looking damn pretty in a bridal look but she was hell nervous for her wedding. 

Raghav was wearing a blue colour sherwani made of velvet.  He was desperately waiting for her bride, soon to be wife in wedding hall.

Soon Archana, Anshika's mother was seen with Anshika bringing her down to the wedding hall. Raghav stood up from his place and went to the staircase. He offered his hands to Anshika. She hesitantly gave her hand in Raghav's hand while she kept her eyes down. 

Raghav pulled her hand back that made Anshika's hand rest on his chest.  She moved back while Raghav smirked at her shyness. 
The priest asked both the bride and the groom to sit on their places and started chanting mantras.

After all the pheras around the sacred fire priest asked them to sit. He asked Raghav to tie the nuptial chain around Anshik's neck. Raghav followed the instructions and made Anshika wear a nuptial chain of his name (Raghav's name).

Then the priest asked Raghav to fill Anshika's hair partition with "sindoor" (vermillion). Again Raghav did what priest asked him to do. He filled her hairline with vermillion. And with that the priest declared them husband and wife and asked them to take blessings from elders.

Raghav and Anshika together took blessings from their elders as a couple and went ahead with the ritual of bidding farewell to the daughter of the house.
Anshika hugged her mother and father and cried for about 10 minutes. Her father consoled her and make her leave bidding them bye.
Anshika was there in decorated car with Raghav and his younger brother Ram who was sitting in front. She was sobbing as reality hit her that now she will not stay with her parents. To console her, her 'devar' (brother-in-law) promised her " Bhabhi i'll take care of you like your own brother." (Sister-in-law, I promise I'll take care of you as your own real brother".)

About after an hour they reached Agnihotri Mansion.

The new couple was stopped at the entrance by Pratibha (Raghav's mother and Anshika's mother-in-law). Pratibha asked Anshika to kick the rice pot with her right foot and then move inside keeping her foots in the bowl filled with red color to leave her footprints in her new home. 

Anshika did as she was instructed to. She followed every instruction given to her by her mother-in-law. She entered in the mansion leaving her footprints behind. Her mother-in-law Pratibha asked the newly wedded couple to touch her feets and Raghav's father's feet to take blessings. The couple together took blessings from their elders. Before Pratibha could say Raghav asked Anshika to touch his feets too, as he is her husband and husband is considered as "pati parmeshwar" a.k.a GOD. Neither Pratibha nor Ved bothered to correct their son Raghav. 

As Anshika was shy and hesitating she reluctantly agreed and touched her husband's feet and took blessings. Pratibha asked Raghav to lift Anshika and take her to their bedroom as per the rituals. He followed her instructions and took Anshika in bridal style to their bedroom. He put her down on bed when only Pratibha too came inside and orderd them to chage so that they can proceed with further rituals.
By evening they completed all the rituals, everyone was tired so everyone went to their room.
