A/N: PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE THIS STORY OMGGGGG???????????
(also I changed the girl's name to Sam)
*
It's been a few weeks since 10K and Sam shared a moment in that small home a dozen towns back. He hasn't really looked her in the eyes much, hasn't even spoken to her really, besides short, one-worded answers. He wasn't mean anymore though, and at least that was good, but Sam couldn't figure out why he still wasn't talking to her.

"He hates me," she told Addy one day as they scoped an old church to make sure it was safe to stay in.

"Sam, he doesn't hate you," Addy replied.

"Yes, he does," Sam sighed. "What if I was a horrible kisser, so he like, thought it was gross and decided not to deal with me anymore, but is too kind to tell me about it? What if he's fallen for you, or Cassy, and he's gonna make a move and now he's forgetting about me? What it-"

"Samantha, would you calm down for a second and think about everything you're saying?" Addy looked Sam in her brown eyes and then continued walking, heading towards a room at the back of the chapel.

Sam sighed again. "Cassy and 10K are really close... That's all I'm saying."

"And so are we. Lemme ask you this, do you want to have sex with me?"

"What? No?"

"Then isn't it possible that they can be close without the desire of getting into each others pants?" Addy looked at Sam again, raising her eyebrows.

"...yes..." Sam moaned.

"So just calm down, it's the zombie apocalypse and you're worrying about boys."

"Boy," corrected Sam.

"What?"

"Boy, I'm worrying about boy."

Addy sighed and chuckled a little. "You're worrying about boy, alright. Still, I'd be more concerned about being eaten in your sleep than whether or not some kid has a crush on you still."

Sam sighed and brushed her dark hair away from her face. "I just wish he would talk to me."

"Talk to him."

Sam nodded and then finished the search, calling out to the group once they found the church was safe.

"Everyone get settled, we're getting up early tomorrow so we can go find some gas for the truck," Warren advised before promptly lying her bag down on a pew and using as a pillow.

10K took to resting at the back of the church, away from everyone else, knowing that he was the best shot in the group and that if anything were to get in, he would literally be the best shot.

Sam sat up front with Addy and Mack as they settled down with their belongings, talking about random things they saw along the road that day, and how they were feeling, and if they could massage any of the muscle cramps for each other. She looked as 10K sat behind the last pew, and faced the door to sleep. She couldn't see him anymore, except for a slight form under the pew. She wanted so badly to talk to him, to say anything.

She looked over at Addy who was now looking at her.

"Come on, go talk to him," she told her, so Sam nodded, stood up, fixed her shirt, and walked confidently back towards 10K.

She lost her confidence almost as soon as she saw him, lying down with his bag as a pillow, his eyes closed, his breathing slow, but she knew he wasn't sleeping just yet.

"Hey," she mumbled as she took a seat next to him. He opened his eyes and sat up so that he was taller than her.

"Hey," he said back.

She paused for a moment, unsure of what to say. "Everything alright?"

"Yeah... You?"

"Yeah..."

The two sat there silently, awkwardly, staring out at their feet in the dark church, the only thing they could hear was breathing and snores coming from the others in the group (snoring precisely from Murphy).

Sam yawned eventually, and 10K told her she should get some rest, in which she just responded with a nod.

"Do you, uh... Can I borrow your jacket? It's kinda cold in here..." She said quietly, even though she felt perfectly fine and it really wasn't that cold, she just wanted to share some form of communication with the handsome boy next to her.

"Yeah," 10K agreed, reaching into his bag for his jacket and handing it to her. She thanked him and put it on, it being large on her due to how tall 10K is, and then she leaned back against the pew and shut her eyes, letting the sound of the living sleep comfort her into unconsciousness.

That wasn't before 10K whispered her name, and she opened her eyes and looked over at him. He placed his hand gently at the bottom of her chin, and he pulled their faces close together until they were almost kissing before he got nervous.

"I-Is it alright if I kiss you?"

Sam nodded and closed her eyes, allowing him to close the gap between them, and brush his lips against hers. He pulled her close to him, and after the kissed, he pulled her into his arms and they fell asleep together.

During the night, they drifted apart as often people do, and when 10K woke up in the morning she was gone. His jacket lie there, crumpled in it's center a note;

You have until midnight to leave all your weapons on the front stoop of this church

Or the girl gets bit.
