Avery POV
~Maddie's Home~
I positioned myself at the little dining table situated in the corner of the room, while the individual in question proceeded to distribute two portions of her renowned broccoli rice chicken dish into plates. We started the act of consuming our meal in a subdued manner, while I attempted to resolve the distressing sensation emanating from my thoracic region. He had effectively severed all communication between us. There would be no conceivable justification for reestablishing contact with him in the future.
I strove to maintain emotional detachment, although my attempt was disrupted by the audible sound of the fork falling from my grasp, coinciding with my shift in attention towards Maddie. I said words impulsively without exercising restraint.
"He wasn't interested in kissing me. What's the meaning of that?"
Maddie directed her eyes towards me, although refrained from verbalizing any words. The individual seemed to have a little expression of sadness. I retrieved my fork and proceeded to manipulate the food on my plate.
"Maybe he..."
"Maybe he did what?"
"I'm not sure." I picked up my phone from the table and figured out how to use it. Ella was on the queue in a few seconds."
~On the phone with Ella~
"Tell me about everything.
"Ella, if a guy doesn't kiss you, what does that mean? When he sleeps with you, I mean."
"What exactly are you saying?"
"Not much." I already knew what it meant, in fact. It meant that he didn't want to.
"You mean while they're having sex together?"
"Yeah."
She laughed out loud.
"What's the joke?"
"I've never met a guy who didn't want to kiss a girl. Most of the time, it only happens to whores. Kissing is very personal, so they don't do it when they're fucking someone they don't know for money. So, they can keep thinking they haven't told anyone anything important. I suppose it helps them stay sane."
I directed my glance towards Maddie in a composed manner. She observed me with a gaze filled with concern.
"I guess in a man's case, he might just want to get out, and nothing else. Maybe that's what guys do when they're hate fucking."
"What in the hell is that?"
"You know when you hate someone so much that you want to fuck them? By the way, why do you ask?"
The individual ceased their activity and refrained from speaking.
"Woah! Avery, why didn't that guy want to kiss you?
"Hmm..."
"How much money did you get?"
The answer is "one million."
I was once again struck by the magnitude of the quantity. The individual had an obstruction in their airway when consuming a substance. After the cessation of the coughing episode, she emitted a raspy sound while speaking into the telephone.
"Are you joking me?"
"I'm not, and you're the reason why, babe." I transferred the phone to Maddie, afterwards standing up and heading back to my sleeping quarters.
