Verena Hale

I sighed as I stomped through the woods. I always get stuck with the boring jobs. While he got to go and run off doing god knows what, I'm stuck spying on Stiles.

Hearing voices up ahead, I come to a complete stop and stepping behind the nearest tree. I moved my head to the side of the tree catching a glimpse of a girl walking and talking to herself. I slowly move closer to her, making sure to step on wet leaves and dirt so I wasn't making much noise.

As I get closer to her I notice that she is naked, and rambling a bunch of nonsense.

"Miss?", I said tapping her shoulder causing her to jump. Which caused me to jump back, tripping over a log, and falling on my ass.

Her strawberry blonde hair was all messy, and had leaves in her hair. Her green eyes were wide, and her body was shivering. I stood up, slowly walking towards her.

"Um.. are you okay?" I asked her, now at her side. "Why are you out here, naked?"

She looked at me shaking her head, stuttering from being cold, "I-I don't know. One second I was at the hospital, the n-next I was out here running."

"Uh-huh," I said taking a sigh and wrapping an arm around her, trying to get her warm. "Let's get you out of here," I said starting to walk towards the end of the woods.

As we got closer we started to the edge, red and blue lights were lighting up the night. Coming out of the wood line we saw ambulances, fire trucks, some police cars, and the sheriff. He was having a conversation with what looked to be Stiles.

Of course he was here, from what Derek told me he always had to be in the center of any investigation. He noticed us before anyone else, yelling out a "Lydia!" causing me to bring us to a holt, about 10 feet away from everyone.

Everyone's eyes moved to us, just staring. I could feel the girl beside me tense up before her voice filled my ear, "Well... is anyone gonna get me a coat?"

Stiles tried to pull his fathers coat off, failing and falling on his face. As I stifled a laugh, the Sheriff started walking towards us taking off his jacket and wrapping it around Lydia walking her towards the ambulance.

"Stay here please. I have some questions," he told me as he walked off.

I nodded and started slowly following them with my arms crossed. Stiles at this point was up and moving. After checking on Lydia he walked over towards me.

"So, you gonna tell me who you are? Why you're here, oh and especially, why your last name is Hale?"

I chuckled a little before responding, "He said you'd be the one to ask a lot of questions, and I hate to say that he wasn't wrong."

"That doesn't answer any of them," he scoffed crossing his arms.

"You heard today in class. I'm Verena. Do you need me to spell it out? Maybe say it a little slower so it sticks this time."

He rolled his eyes looking around, he looked back at me beginning to say something, but before he could the ambulance started to drive away and his father was at our side.

"Is he bothering you miss..?" he said leaving the end of the question open for me to finish.

"Hale. Verena Hale. And nope not bothering me at all, he was just asking about class today. There were some things that apparently didn't stick today," I replied making a small diss towards Stiles.

His father looked between the two of us with a confused expression, but he shook it off and started to speak again, "Hale? Any relation to Derek Hale?"

I nodded, "Yes. Been related my whole life."

He gave me another look, that was hinting for me to finish how we were related. I couldn't tell him Derek was my cousin, because Stiles was right here and he'd put two and two together in an instant.

"Alright... Well I need your statement, about how you came across Miss Martin out there in the woods."

I nodded, "I was walking through the woods, trying to get to the road here. I was about half way through when I had heard noises and saw her just walking around mumbling to herself. So I brought her out of the woods."

"Uh-huh, and what were you doing out in the woods?"

I glanced at Stiles then back at the Sheriff. "I was going for a walk trying to clear my mind. Moving to a new school can be quite stressful."

He stared at me for a second before speaking , trying to figure out if he believed me or not.

"Alright, well," he paused looking around , "I guess you can go. I may end up having more questions so don't go leaving town like your relative likes to do."

I shook my head, "Of course Sheriff. You'll learn I'm nothing like the rest of the Hales." I smiled extending my hand for him to shake.

He shook my hand in response, then walked off to his car taking one last look at us before getting in and driving away.

Stiles looked back at me realizing I was already walking away, "Wait a second where are you going?"

I smiled at him before stopping, "Somewhere, where I won't have a skinny know it all in my business."

He scoffed, rolling his eyes, and opened his mouth to speak again but he couldn't find anything to say.

I chuckled and started towards the wood line again. As I reach the edge I could still feel eyes on me. I smirked turning around, "If you're gonna stare at least take a picture so it'll last longer."

He just kept staring at me, as he took his phone out taking a picture of me. I didn't actually think he would.

"Goodnight Stiles," I said finishing the sentence, flashing my golden eyes. Turning around and walking away into the night with nothing but the moon lighting my way.
