" Jiji... Don't do this," she was in her room. The same room her husband used to sleep with her in. The same room where once she was deflowered on such a vulnerable night...

The same room that reminded her of him so very much.

She was busy thinking of the good old times while putting her son to sleep on his wooden crib when her brother suddenly barged into the room.

He was a renowned General in the army by that point. After helping the King and bringing his sister back to the palace, he was raised in his ranks and given the title of a general.
He wasn't the only General. Nor was he any good in war since he hadn't participated any one before. Still, he was close to the King. So he had everyone's respect.

Yet, he didn't seem to care about his status at that moment. He was just worried about his sister. Hence, he barged into her room.

" Pranav?" She was startled to say the least and so was her son. But he wasn't crying. Nor did she feel the need to kick her brother out of her room
" Uh... Your. Majesty. Sorry for barging in like that-"
" It's ok. You can call me jiji,"
" Jiji... Don't do this," he said after a long pause while looking her straight in the eyes, " They will make your life a living hell! Please. Just ask Prince Shaurya to come back and take the reigns for the time being,"

She just looked at him with an emotional gaze for a moment before turning to look at her son. When she saw her sweet little boy looking at her with curiosity though, she sighed and turned her head around once again, just to place her eyes on the golden sword that she had last received from her husband. Once her eyes landed on that sword though, her emotional gaze turned cold and strict.

She turned to look at her brother with that same cold and strict gaze. One that told him that she was not backing down what she had begun.

" I will not do any such thing," she declared with an iron clad heart.
" Jiji... You're not understanding! They've already begun planning how to embarrass you in front of the entire kingdom! They really don't want you on the throne!"
" And they don't know that no matter what poison they throw towards me, I will drink it and move ahead. Just like Neelkanth,"
" Jiji. You don't understand how dangerous those people are!"
" And they don't know how dangerous I am," she simply blinked her eyes and tucked her son into his soft silk blanket

" You might be a master in Swordsmanship and battle strategies but that is not all you need to know to be able to run the entire Kingdom jiji! Get back into your senses! Don't do this! It will take the King's and your names from the dirt!"
" Pranav... I have made up my mind. And so had my husband before he left me with his vast responsibility. I will follow what I feel is right. No matter what you say or how much you try to warn me," she declared in the end and glared him down.

The fire in her eyes, he couldn't distinguish. Nor could he dull it down.
He could see it burning with so much passion. He'd understood.

His efforts were futile.

The only thing that he could do now was look after her. Making sure that she wasn't hurt. Protect her at all costs and most importantly... Support his sister.

Because he couldn't see her get hurt. No matter if he'd just met her a few months ago, he could never let go of the strong sense of duty that he felt towards her. She was his family, no matter if she had been with him all her life or if she had been taken away at birth. She was his elder sister, no matter if he'd found it out only a few months ago.

" As you say..." All he could that night was sigh.

Even as he lay in his bed, next to his wife, all he could ever do was sigh in sadness. He could see the downfall of the Imperial family in front of his eyes and couldn't do anything about it. He could see his sister getting hurt in the near future and couldn't do anything about it. He could see the schemes those old and new men all together were going to play against the queen. Yet, all he could do was sigh as his wife looked over at him with worry in her eyes

" What happened? Didn't you talk to bhabhi? Is she not ready to give up on the throne?" Suhani asked him worriedly and he just shook his head as he now sat up on his bed. Not only he but his entire family was worried about Pari. Suhani had personally asked him to go and talk some sense into the queen but he hadn't been successful in doing so.

" She isn't ready to listen to anyone. And it's the king's direct orders... No one can do anything about it," he said sadly and she looked at him with tender eyes
" Pranav... Don't worry. Pari bhabhi is very strong..."
" I know. But these court politics are going to leave her hurt. Or something worse can happen to her. You don't know how deep these people can dig to get their way,"
" She's not called Ma Durga for no reason, Pranav," softly, Suhani kept her soft, tender hand over her worried husband's cheek and moved closer to him, " I still remember the day she came to save me from those traitors... Her hands were filled with blood. And her blue eyes... They... They were wild with anger. Blood was dripping from her clothes. Still, she didn't care. Pranav... She's no less than any man. I know that if there is someone who can rule this Kingdom after Sohit bhai, it is bhabhi. I trust her completely... And I trust bhai's trust in her as well. Please, Pranav. Support her. Help her out. That's the only thing we can do for her right now..."
