I may have made a lot of inquiries in the past, but only one really caught my attention.

Years had passed since the issue was handled.

Many investigators, including myself, were assigned to look into this but came up empty-handed."Hello, Mr. Andrew!"

"My name is Davis. It's nice to have you at the conference"

I reply, "thank you"

Pick the chair up. I can sense his eyes on me. He pulled the recorder and started by saying,

"Gentlemen, please welcome one of our department's top investigators."

I could hear the cheers, but one man raised the stakes by a line.

"Can you tell us about the case "The Bridge"! Death of student Susan?"

********* Past ////\\

"You're that Andrew, right? Who found the killer of Susan, a little girl?"

Well, the case wasn't properly resolved... One piece was still missing after the puzzle had been put together. That only makes it 98% finished.

"I am..."

It was difficult to accept that my friend's killer had been apprehended but that the real perpetrator was still at large. Concerning that, the case remained open.

Davis seized command, "Yes, he is the proper one. The Susan case was complex and not just a game that was played. That's not it; while masking his identity over the past few years, Andrew worked on many other cases. Andrew came here because we're going to assign the case of TheVerge,"

I looked up and wondered what the situation was. Why do people over here act as though a tsunami just hit them?

" Yes, The Verge" Davis said.

"We all know that Verge involves numerous senior officials", he continued. "Mr. Glib should take up from here"

Seriously.

motives for my dislike of this type of gathering. When guests arrive, they break the speech in the middle to allow others to speak. They are a waste of time, not because they are very good.

Glib continued, "I'm grateful, Mr. Davis. Mr. Andrew seems to be growing bored right now."

I grin. Can't ignore the truth, though...

"Many higher authorities perished without leaving any hints or explanations. The authorities became a little concerned when high-ranking individuals were murdered. People were calling for an explanation for the deaths of higher-order people. They began running advertisements about their safety and emphasized that this administration was not saving people."

"That's not all", Davis continued. "We only have one lead about this Card."

He slid a card onto the table that was colored dark violet and had the letters "V E R G E" printed in white.

"That is the card, which serves as the only current piece of proof. A card was discovered among all the dead bodies."

Fascinating. I don't say anything for a while, but I can hear all the conversations going on in the background.

The discussion went on for a short while.

----------

I consider the case specifics on the way home. Nothing like the one I previously dealt with.

Received a call,

Unknown caller, "Hello."

I yell out. "Whom did they assign?"

She replied, "Ms. Stella."

Stella? Not to be intrusive, but the name gives me the willies.

"inform her to meet me at Lane 54, the cafe down the block, in 30 minutes."

"sure sir..."

I hung up the phone and wondered where I first heard this name.

I hang up the phone and wonder where I first heard this name.I drive for a minute until I arrive at the cafe and park.

I put my coat back in the car and slide it. I unbutton my upper collar and let my tie hang loose. I stroll right into the cafe while holding my shirt up to my muscles. When I entered, I saw a waiter coming my way.

"Good day, sir! How are you today?"

"Hoping it would be good, thanks. Could you set me up with a table and a cup of coffee, black and less sugar? while I wait for someone to meet me?" I smile as I say.

The voice of another girl came from my left side.

"I'm over here!" she shouts again without turning to me.

Fascinating. Early by 8 minutes...

She's unknown to me. Discover her hair by following the voice. Her face is to the window.

I approach her and take off my spectacles."You are?" I ask.

"You don't want to sit and talk?"

Familiar.

She swung her head around and took off her glasses. She comment, "Small world, huh"

I reply with my mouth open, "It is, isn't it?" and I continue,

"So you are Ms. Stella. High-grade soldier and intelligence combat, tactical officer. Want to assist me? Why?"

"You forgot to mention my other degree."

"The one I'm not happy of"

"I know and I've realized my mistake. I shouldn't have divorced you"

"That's the past. I'm at no stage to talk about the stupidity you had caused"

She sighs...

Yes, my lovely ex-wife. One of the best soldiers of this country, not only in the combat field but also as a spy.

"Due to the case, I'm here. The Verge"

I ask, "What do you think about it?"

"You didn't hear the briefing, did you? A member of the armed forces. A military officer was brutally murdered."

I ask, "They discovered a card?"

"Not just a card, but also a warning note."

She takes out her phone and begins to read it.

"Everyone who behaved like a great human being shall perish..."
