We were marching to meet the French and I could see them in the distance. I looked at my best friend Percival, who looked straight forward but under his breath whispered to me "Edward, keep looking forward." I turned back around I kept marching and started thinking of the beautiful women I was courting named Jane. I also thought of my mother Bridget and my father John. I saw the French stop marching about 100 meters from us English, our leaders yelled "Charge!" and we all yelled while running at each other with our rifle bayonet. I cringed as some one ran into my bayonet. I kept running and shot a horse and stab the rider as he was about to shoot me but I finished him first. The only thing keeping my body functioning was the adrenaline and I was doing what I had to stay alive. I stumbled backwards as I fired my rifle at someone and was shocked when I felt myself bump into someone. I turned around with my rifle at the ready but it was just Percival. We both sigh in relief and looked at each other and laughed. In between laughs I said to him "Geez mate you scared the living daylights out of me!"
"You nearly gave me a heart attack!" I replied. We thought we were in the clear as we couldn't see many people around us when suddenly Percival yells at me "EDWARD! WATCH OUT!" As I turn around I feel something hit me in the stomach. I look down to see a bullet hole just above my right hip. I could feel darkness trying to take over me and after one last look at Percival, I let the darkness take me as its prisoner.
