The two had been sitting in silence ever since they left the café. The spot they had to dig was over an hour away, so it was only a matter of time until Rocky broke the silence.

"I never thought I'd end up digging for buried treasure with you, Mordecai"

"I didn't know a stash of booze under 6 feet of dirt counted as treasure to you," replied Mordecai, not breaking his gaze from the road ahead of them.

"Well saying that it's a stash of booze isn't as fun as saying it's treasure. Makes it a bit more exciting."

"I suppose," Mordecai said, suddenly being cut off by a loud pop. The car swerved, and Rocky struggled to regain control. He managed to pull over onto the side of the road, quickly hopping out to see what had happened.

"Oh for goodness sake."

One of the back tires had popped, the rim being hot to the touch after it had been grinding against the road.

"Welp, that's what spares are for!" said Rocky, grabbing a toolbox from under the passenger seat.

Rocky quickly got to work putting the spare on the car. Mordecai was almost impressed with how quickly Rocky was doing it.

"How did you-" started Mordecai.

"Viktor taught Ms. Pepper, and she taught me! She knows I tend to get myself into tough situations, so she thought the knowledge might help. And what do ya know, here it is helping us in our time of need."

After the tire was replaced, the two set off once more.

"I'm glad you were able to do that on your own. I don't like taking the risk of getting dirt on me," commented Mordecai.

Little did they know, this would be the start of a close friendship.
