Chapter 2

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tavian snuck past the armored guard towards the pavilion of fruit and bread. The smell of freshly cooked bread made his mouth water. His stomach growled knowing soon food will be his.
Tavian slid past a group people into and alley that would lead slowly to the pavilion. He ran and jumped from place to place as he tried not to land in the many puddles in the dark damp alley. He ran past a trash can that had squeaks of mice, when one quickly ran right in front of him. He tried to avoid it, but the mouse had chosen the worse time to run across. He stepped on the mouse and slipped into a big puddle full of manure and uneaten food. "Great," he said aloud "Now I'm wet, I smell bad, and I'm still hungry."
Tavian got up and tried to brush off all the unwanted stuff off him. "Well might as well still get something to eat," Tavian said to himself. So he crouched and slowly he walked towards the red and black pavilion. He could already taste the tasty food in his mouth. He had decided to get an apple and a loaf of bread. Oh how much that bread would taste on his tongue, the crunch of the ripe, red apple as he took his first bite. As he reached the back of the pavilion, he rolled close behind the man running this food pavilion. Tavian slowly slid his hand up towards the best apple he could see. He felt the warm apple in the palm of his hand when a sharp pain poked under his neck. "Release the apple and I might let you live," the man running the pavilion said in a whisper.
Tavian slowly released the apple back on the table. He didn't even know the man had turned, he definitely didn't know he had pulled out a knife.
"Now turn slowly so I can see your face," the man said to Tavian.
Tavian slowly turned to see a man with a long beard, deep dark brown eyes, and a long pointed nose. The man gasped as he looked into the eyes of the young boy with the golden eyes.
"What is wrong with your eyes boy," the man asked Tavian in a hushed tone.
"Nothing," Tavian replied rudely. He hated when people ask why his eyes are the way they are. Always some stupid person who saw him would ask what is wrong with his eyes.
"But.. But your eyes. They are golden," the man stuttered.
"Yes I think I would know if my eyes are gold or not. It's not something you don't notice, especially when people like you always point it out," Tavian snarled at the man.
"People like me?" The man asked.
"It doesn't matter, just let me go," Tavian demanded to the man.
The man poked the knife harder into his neck making a pinpoint of blood. "Don't tell me what to do. From what I remember you were stealing from my pavilion." The man responded.
Anger bloomed into Tavian, like a burst of flame ignited in his heart. The man gasped as Tavian's already bright eyes began to glow even brighter. Tavian stared straight at the mans eyes making a bond that couldn't be broken. The man slowly fell to the ground.
Tavian ran and ran, thinking over and over again about what happened to his eyes and what happened to the man. Had he done it? Why happened to his eyes? All these flew threw his head faster the the speed of a dragon. Tavian stopped running when the sun was going down, he had forgotten the time completely, he had also completely lost where he is.
Tired, hungry, and lost he wandered into an abandoned shack and slept there curled into a ball to keep warm.
Tavian woke to the rays of the sun gleaming through the cracks of the broken down abandoned shack. With a yawn and a stretch he rose drearily to see exactly where he was.
