"That old hag…always worries about money, money, money. Tch, how did I become that kind of person…?" You mumbled to yourself while driving your way home. "I still live in the same house, right…? Ah…I forgot to pay the rent…"

"The next week, it was the moment when I had to move out because I've never paid my rent, it was all because I handed the money to that hag, shit…that old hag gained access to my credit card, but not this time." You growled before making a stop at your apartment and grabbed your phone. "If I can issue a change of numbers on my credit card, then they will send me a replacement card with new numbers. And I'll be sure to remove that old hag from using my credit card."

━━━━━━━

The next day, you went to work early. You forgot to fix yourself some breakfast on the way to the Money Bin. Now you'll be working while starving.

"I should've eaten breakfast on the way…" you grumbled. You then flinched when a bag landed at your desk. You look up to see that Scrooge had given you the bag. "Mr. McDuck…?"

"It was to repay you for buying me lunch and…" Scrooge bonks you on the head with his cane, "...make sure you eat properly!"

"S-sorry, sir." You sweatdropped. Scrooge huffed then headed to his office. You were surprised at first, but your stomach is telling you to forget it and eat your damn breakfast. You sweatdropped when you realized that Scrooge brought you a cheap sandwich and an apple juice box. "Yep. That's Mr. McDuck alright…Whatever. I'll just eat it anyway, but wait, McDuck had never given me lunch. Did I just change the timeline…?"

"Hmph! Ah…Wait…Scrooge McDuck goes through all crazy things with his niece and nephew. So it wouldn't be surprising, but why me…?" You thought, taking a sip of your apple juice while typing on your computer.

"You seem early, Mr. [L]..." The CFO of the Money Bin, Bradford, one of the most unlikable in the bin. You're not a fan of this bastard.

"Of course, I have. I had to get the work done, didn't I…?" You forced a smile.

"Also…" Bradford plopped a pile of papers next to you. "Here are some things you needed to catch up on."

"...S…sure…" you strained, trying not to squeeze your juice box.

"Good luck."

"Bastard always makes me do his work! I'm not your damn servant!" You thought with frustration before slowly calming down and grabbed the first paper. "It won't be that hard…"

1 hour later…

You were bummed out after an hour of working on the paperwork that Bradford stacked for you. You are exhausted and can't feel your arms. Your arms are cramps after all that speed working.

"Mr. [Y]. You have mail delivered to you." Scrooge said as he handed you the envelope.

"Oh, thank you, McDuck." You thank the male.

"...Have you been doing well? I'm surprised you've come so early in the morning…" Scrooge says.

"Oh, I'm doing well, sir." You nodded. "Strange, why is he asking me all of a sudden."

"And the credit card…?"

"Well it's personal. I'm working on a surprise for my mother." You winked.

Scrooge stared at you confused, confused by your sudden show of emotion. To him, you always seem down and depressed, plus you have been a jerk to his niece and nephew, but why are you acting differently?

"Oh and Mr. McDuck. Thank you for the lunch even if it was cheap." You grinned.

Dumbfounded, Scrooge confusedly reponsed you with a "you're welcome" before heading off to his office, "What's going on with this lad today…?"

"Sorry, mother…but I am no longer your puppet…" you thought with a dark grin.

━━━━━━━

You checked your bank account and saw that everything was doing alright which means you can finally pay your rent before you get kicked out next week.

"Break time…" you stretched out your arms and stood up to get a can of pep. "I'll be honest, I'm glad I was given a second chance. Upon realizing how much I've screwed up my friendship with Donald 10 years later. Not this time, I'm gonna make this right."

"Hopefully you weren't thinking about getting pep. Drinking soda everyday will have a negative effect on your body." Scrooge's voice startled you, placing three juice boxes at your desk, so much to your confusion. "Which is why I got you apple juice. It's more healthy."

"Oh…thanks…?" You blinked.

"Donald and Della also wanted to invite you to the mansion tomorrow. So it'll be your day, but I'm only doing this for them." Scrooge told you the news.

"Oh, really?" You tilted your head to the side. "What? Why? I don't recall that…"

You turned to your calendar and realized that your birthday was tomorrow, which made you choke on your own saliva when you realized it. That time on your birthday, you promised to meet the Duck Twins for your birthday, but it turned out that you lied about it and never showed up.

"Damnit. I forgot my own birthday, but now this is a second chance of life, I will go to the mansion tomorrow…!" You thought. "Sure. I'll be sure to head over to the mansion tomorrow."

"...Oh…?" Scrooge's eyes widened with shock when you agreed. "There's really something strange about this lad…"

━━━━━━━

After work, you were on your way to your car until the phone began to ring in your leather briefcase. It turned out to be your mother on the phone, she must have found out about the credit card.

"Hello?" You answered.

"[Y]! Why does it say my credit card has declined?! Did you do something?!" Your mother shouted from the phone.

"Oh, your credit card? Don't you mean the credit card with my bank account and money?"

"What did you do?! Did you change your numbers?!

"I apologize, but I can't let you use me as a puppet any longer. I cannot allow you to use my money when I'm struggling with rents and businesses." You stated with anger in your voice, "You can't control any more. I'm going free away from you. Don't worry, I'll be sure to send you the money you need, tho, you won't be contacting me because your number is blocked. Goodbye."

"You're the reason why your father left me! You are a mistake! You—"

Beep~

You hung up before the old hag could finish the sentence then blocked her number. Your father…you hope he's alright.

You took a deep breath to calm your nerves, "Geez, that was hard…Hopefully no one heard that…"

Unfortunately for you, someone overheard your conversation with your mother while they were on their way to the limo.
