Gold Ingot sighed as he looked down at the floor in front of him. The month he dreaded had finally arrived, and all he could do was wait for it to be over.

Normally, December is a joy-filled month, with holidays, snow, and all-around good times! The contestants seemed to have fun with the month, at least.

But for Gold Ingot, it was just a dreadful reminder of what happened back in 2014, the one thing that hurt him the most out of anything that could have happened to him.

Mr. Hand's banishment to The Comic Dimension.

The official 9 year anniversary of it was on the 22nd, and the contestants were planning to host a party to celebrate it, as he was an evil genius who wanted to destroy the world, but Gold Ingot just couldn't see it as a good day.

I mean, watching the man he was in love with get sucked away into another dimension knowing he has no way to escape isn't something worth celebrating to him, even if it was deserved.

It hurt, a lot, and he was just unable to let go. The only thing that could really help was if he was able to get Mr. Hand back, but, hah, like that'll ever happen.

There's no way he'd be able to. Even if Journal's crazy story was somehow true, he'd probably find a way to stop him before anything happened. He was a scientist who specialized in dimensional travel, of course he would! Why wouldn't he??

Gold Ingot got up, walking over to the kitchen as he quickly grabbed a bag of chips to eat, as he didn't feel like making anything, not even small microwave meals.

"Ah, Gold Ingot! You doin' alright?" Platinum asked, he was making himself a sandwich.

He just responded with a "mm" noise, which in their family, meant "I feel like shit but also i'm fine." This obviously concerned Platinum a bit, but he saw the nearby calendar and noticed it being December, and everything made sense.

"Ah, right.. Hope you're able to feel better soon." He just replied, Gold Ingot making the journey to his room as he just flopped onto his bed, finishing up his chips.

He turned on some music and tried taking a nap, in hopes he'd wake up and see that he slept through the entire month.

Unfortunately for him, however, that wouldn't happen as he felt something hard on his bed, making him extremely uncomfortable and unable to rest properly. He mentally sighed to himself as he got up, looking around the bed to see what could have been in his bed.

He found a tiny, seemingly metal ball, tiny enough to pick up with just your index finger and thumb. He picked it up and took a closer look at it, confused as to how it got there and what it could have possibly been.

When he got that closer look, he noticed something weird about it. It seemed to be.. flickering in some way, going rapidly from white to black. There was nothing that could be causing this, like lighting or a light inside of the ball, so he made the decision to put it inside of a small container, to watch over it.

Despite it being a small, insignificant dot, he seemed... attached to the thing. Like it was alive, and he needed to take care of it. And so, he cut a tiny hole in the lid, opening up the container as he dumped some of the chip dust still in the bag into it, as that's the only thing he had.

It didn't seem like it was doing anything, so he just placed it to the side, throwing away his completely empty bag. He had the thought of giving it a droplet of water, as well, so he went back down to the kitchen, with thankfully no one in it, and grabbed himself a full glass of water and a pipette. Might as well multitask and get both of you some water.

He sucked up some of the water from the cup, carefully putting it down in the container and dropping a tiny bit of it into the place. That seemed like enough for now, considering this probably wasn't even a living thing, just a weird flickering speck he felt on his bed.

Gold Ingot decided to go out for a walk, maybe impulse-buy things he wanted, to clear his mind a bit. What was gonna happen with the weird bead? Would it grow? Would it become this really cool thing?

..Needless to say, he spent way too much money on making an entire enclosure for the thing. Even if it didn't grow, he could use it for something else, like a reptile or fish!

He set up the enclosure, not needing much in it. He had no idea what type of stuff it would like, so he kept the ground barren as he put double-sided tape onto fake plants and bowls for food and water.

The speck was much too small to be in this huge enclosure, so his solution was to put the tiny container into the tank, hoping that it would be able to work as some weird type of 'acclimation' or something.

He decided that if or when this thing grows, if it gets big enough, he'll transfer it to the tank completely, and learn what it needs to grow healthily! And if not, then there's no harm done, he could get a different pet! Maybe that would help distract him from Mr. Hand, a pet.

He looked at the time, noticing how late it was getting. He spent his entire day making a huge tank for something he didn't even know was a living creature, all because of some weird, sudden urges. It felt unnatural to him, but he didn't question it too much.

He jumped into his bed, much more comfortable now that the thing was in a glass cage rather than his bed, and drifted himself to sleep, wondering what to call it.

He didn't expect his efforts to help his random ball would truly work any, and especially not in the way it ended up working out.
