The whole day went by in a blink of an eye. Why wouldn't it? It is Friday before spring break. The aura of annoyance, despair, and hate is lifted from this school.

It's a miracle that happens about three times year. It's the time when teachers are jolly for once and the students almost look forward to the day.

So here I am sitting in Ms. Robin's class. This is the smallest class I have. There are only 12 people- me, Alex, Derek, Thomas (ew.), Mark, Austin, two seniors I don't know, three super smart sophomores and Katie.

Ms.Robin is a petite dark woman and my favorite teacher.

"Class, spring break's going to start in about 30 minutes. But let's not get too excited because you'll be having a project to do over the week. The state requirements ask for it and I can't fit it anywhere else in the schedule." She hands out the requirements for the project.

Most of the class groans but I don't join them. I am okay with projects. They are easy grades as long as they aren't group projects.

"They will be group projects of three to reduce the amount of work required and to teach you a good lesson of teamwork."

I mentally face palm myself. That's a completely wrong way of looking at it Ms. Robin.

Some students let out happy noises. They will obviously be the ones who are going to be lazy and let make other group members work.

"because we have started reading 'Broken April', you and your group mates are going to meet up sometime , discuss the questions mentioned in the project guide ,and then have any sort of presentation for the class."

Now that shouldn't be too hard. Presentations are about as easy as high school projects go. Only if she lets us pick our groups.

"I'll assign the groups to make sure everyone is out of there comfort zones."

I take that back! This going to be the worst project ever. Ms. Robin hears about all the gossip that goes around the school and she definitely knows the people in this class I would hate to be partnered with.

Ms.Robin puts on her glasses and reads the groups off of a list.

"Alex, Thomas, and Mark."

I can only hope that Mark will be able to keep Alex from murdering Thomas.

"Derek, Matt, and Jelecia"

Derek and the two seniors are all friendly. They will all get along well.

"Austin, Elena, and Katie"

At this point I completely zone out of the class. Katie the slut, and Austin the guy-who-has-a-strange-dislike-towards-me are my partners. Great.

"Now you have 20 minutes till the end of class to start your projects. Chop-chop!" with this, Ms.Robin proceeds to sit in front of her computer.

I stay rooted to my spot. They can come to me. Meanwhile I take a sheet of paper out, poised to start the damned discussion.

"hey" Katie takes a seat next to me, smiling warmly at me.

"hi." I write the topic down.

"so how are we going to do this? We can meet up at my house this weekend. Get it over with, you know?" she crosses her legs.

"that would be great." I don't know why I thought she would not be nice. Oh right, Thomas cheated on me with her. But I had never really talked to her before. I just assumed she will be a bitch.

Katie pulls out a paper and writes something on it.

"Here's my number if there are any change in plans." She hands me the number. She isn't that bad. We might just get along.
