chapter 4: key to closeness

"Harabeoji, can't I skip this one? I don't have the right mood to join. Besides, your beloved Jungwon is the last person I want to interact these days." Addi gave a direct diss towards Jungwon to Eun sik harabeoji, hoping that her grandpa will actually listen to her small wish this time only to get reminded on how she should act her age from now on and stop making problems. "Andwae, Jungwon need the right company for him, it will be weird to not bring his wife at the event, there will be huge gathering of his investors, and you should know how they are open to being known of each other's family in doing business. If you are not there to support Jungwon, what will they think about him? Cut the nonsense and act straight, Eun-gi. You've been complaining so much, I kept on worrying after hearing it from Jungseok." Harabeoji explained real deals to her instead made her sighed softly. "Harabeoji, jinjja. He is now your favorite? I got it. It's a waste of time telling you everything these days, it will always my fault. You don't have to worry now. I won't fail him." She hanged up the phone as soon as she bursted her anger. "This is such a lonely fight." Addi sat on the sofa and throw the back of her head, thinking on how she should face Jungwon now after what happened yesterday.

In the car on the way to the event:
Addi stretched her hands to the front while adjusting herself on the seat while her eyes keeps on looking at the outside. Since they've been sitting inside the car, no words has been uttered by them, the silence remains the loudest conversations they ever had. Addi don't even turns her head to look at Jungwon, her neck is slowly starting to feel stiff from the only one way of sitting she made since the start of the journey.

Not long after, Jungwon decided to break the silence by asking some dumb questions that are obviously meant for Addi to lose her cold attitude towards him.
"Did you chose your own dress tonight?" He asked carefully. Addi don't even try to speak to him and just carefully ignore him. "I don't mind if you don't want to talk to me throughout your life but please make sure you don't bring this one at the event. I'm afraid you'll ruin my entire legacy." He said that so lightly without thinking twice. That sentences not only hurting her but triggering her anger as well. She quickly turns her head and lasering him with her eyes. "I really have no words on this. I get it. You don't have to worry as well. I am not planning to ruin anyone's life or LEGACY. Although, I must say, it's a little bit stretch. And yes, I chose my own dress! I AM SORRY IF THIS IS RUINING YOUR LEGACY TOO. YOU SHOULD ASK BEYONCE TO ACCOMPANY YOU INSTEAD IF IT BOTHERS." Jungwon don't even blink his eyes on her aggressive answer and just casually adjusting his coat, he clears his throat before continuing, "It's a good choice. You look presentable." He gave her a gunshot of compliment unexpectedly with his unbothered expression. Her expression immediately toned down by the sudden compliment while she's contemplating whether what she heard just now is true or not by staring at Jungwon's side profile, she smirks a little. "Tch. At least, you have eyes for that. Gomawoyo." She turns her head to the window and sightseeing at the view outside the car window, calming herself.

AT THE EVENT:

Addi's POV-
I nudged Jungwon's arm and asking him to offer me his arm to me. What a gentleman. He doesn't even know how to be pretentious. How dare he says I'm trying to ruin his legacy when he don't even know how to act the right way. Looking at his startled eyes after I nudged him, made him immediately followed what I said. But it happened only for awhile because I decided to leave him and the group he has been converse with. I cannot hear them anymore, and it's not like I understand about the topics.

"Ah, what should I eaaaat?" Seeing all the foods that has been presented making me hungry and I cannot choose one! Not long before I decided my choice of foods, someone greeted me from behind. "You must be so hungry after socializing in here. You're a good eater, I see." A tall and handsome man suddenly talked to me without any warning. I just smiled awkwardly after he mentioned on the amount of food I took but it's not like I care about it. "Here, let me help you bring it on the table. You might face trouble walking from here to there." He took the plate out of my hands and walking away slowly from me. "It's okay tho! I can bring it myself. Please, let me take it." I said, trying to reject his kind offer respectfully that I have to follow him since he's already walking away from me. "It's here, right?" He asked me and I just nodded, definitely he doesn't even listen at all. After putting my plate on the table, he even pulls the chair for me to sit, and sit beside me. Did he knew that I am a wife of someone? This is making me uncomfortable.

"I have seen you alone for a quite some time, I'm sorry if I have to say this all of sudden, but you are so pretty I cannot take my eyes from you." I was about to choke on the food hearing such compliments he gave that made me smiled brightly. I just find it funny how someone did everything to tell you such a compliment. I really appreciated his act. "Oh, thank you! You're stretching it. I am just a so-so?" I replied him back and chuckles softly. Ah, what a day. Can't believe people just start seeing this beauty that I behold. Thank god, they finally notice, I thought to myself. "Oh, you didn't bring any of the beverage. I'll take for you!" He even offered to help me taking some water. How sweet of him but I have to reject it again. "Oh noooo, it's okay! Let me take some by myself!" And he nodded, laughing. I can return his kindness by offering some drinks too. As I go to the beverage section, I met Jungwon who is choosing his drink alone. I smiled awkwardly to him just in case some people see our weird interaction towards each other.

"Are you eating alone?" Jungwon asked me while sipping his drink from the glass he picked up. "Yeah, it's okay, you don't have to eat with me. I can take care of myself. Carry on with your endeavors." I replied to Jungwon confidently just to realised Jungwon is staring at the man on the table I sat before. "Ah, you don't have to worry. We just know each other. He thought I'm pretty and has been looking at me for some times. Omo. How can things like this happens?" I laughed at myself while talking to him, bragging on compliments I got today. His stare changes immediately to me and he smirks slowly, almost letting out a chuckle. It's my first time seeing him making that expression. "Waaaaae?" I quickly asked him, in concern by unusual expression he just made. "You have to be careful on deciding what insurance do you want to purchase. But I bet you already had one." Jungwon explained ambigously. I frown at his remark. "What are you saying?" I ask for further explanation before he gets close to me, now with a huge smirk displaying on his face, and he whispers towards my face softly, "Let me know the rate if you want to buy anything from him. Probably one of the suggestion he makes, suits you. You know-" He got even closer to my ear, I can feel his warm breathe tickling my neck. "Life insurance." Jungwon distanced himself back after letting me know that it was the man's tactic of approaching me to sell insurances.

"Oh, impossible. I know genuine people from the way they interact. Awooo, Jungwon-ah. You judge people so easily. He's sincere complimenting me. Maybe he wants to befriend me. You wait, I'll prove you wrong." I beams a smile and turns my back to him and walk towards the table to continue eating while interacting to the guy.

And just like Jungwon said, not long after we ate, the guy suddenly explaining stuffs that I don't even want to know. From making makjang stories to trying to suggest me on what I can buy for my own life insurance. I held my head to see Jungwon and immediately saw him already set his eyes to me, even had the audacity to lift his eyebrow on me, probably happy that he's right. I even want to slap the guy for using my dumb head and fishing me out of the river. Almost catch a big fish, I can say. I decided to politely reject all his proposals towards me and just went away from the table as quickly as I can. I can't even go to Jungwon, it's embarrassing! I really know how to differentiate genuine people from the fake though. How dare he deceived me so easily.

Not this brat confidently approaching me after making me embarrassed. I rolls my eyes.

Jungwon's POV:

I looked around, searching the lost puppy I brought together to this event. I'm this close on having myself drains from all these interactions, just where did she went? Just then- my eyes landed on Eun-gi, at the buffet, talking to a guy that I never seen before. Judging from his attire, he might be one of the investors or probably some good looking salesman that got lucky invitation to here.
What are they laughing at?-
"Jungwon-ssi, what are you looking at?" Ah, I forgot I was still in the conversation. "I am trying to find my wife, there she is." I looked at their direction again. "Oh, why is she talking to that salesman? I think that man is selling life insurance, if I am not mistaken.
