A jellyfish-like species that grace the waters and kingdom of Sylvalia. They're often considered to be the scholars of the ocean due to their tendency to be entranced by academic knowledge. While this isn't necessarily applicable to every calderan it is a trait held by the majority. They can live up to the age of 150 years.

Their society is dominated by 'Queen Calderan', who are a larger female variant of the species who often play managerial and leadership roles within society. They are however rarer, making up 5% of the population.

- They are bioluminescent.

- Their diets consist of: plants, small fish, crustaceans and plankton.

- They come in an assortment of pastel colours.

- Queens can grow to 10 ft while normal calderans can grow to 6ft

Weaknesses:


- They cannot traverse or breathe on land.

- They need briney waters to be healthy and retain colours.

- They shrivel up when exposed to direct and harsh sunlight.

- Only reproductively compatible with only themselves and merpeople.

Strengths:

- They are incredibly intelligent, the average calderan being comparable to 'geniuses' from other species.

- Their 'hair' can be made poisonous or electrifying to the touch whenever they will.

- They communicate telepathically, they cannot read minds but they can hear thoughts that you open to them.

- Queen variants can mildly manipulate minds causing their targets to become more agreeable.

Misc:

- They have no teeth despite having a mouth.

- They swallow food whole and the enzymes within their stomach digest it.
