1:16 p.m.
"Holy shit, is this it?" I asked as we pulled up to our new house in Hurricane.
"Language, kiddo." My dad nonchalantly spoke, pulling up in the driveway and turning off the car.
We got the little things we had left out of the trunk and walked in the house. Since we only live a city or two over, dad had previously taken our furniture little by little and put it in the house so we had less work to do.
I walked into the house, and saying it was big was an understatement. It had a spacious kitchen with a big island, a nice living room, a dining room, and a guest bathroom downstairs.
"Dad, how much was this house? It's huge!" I questioned, looking at him in disbelief.
"Not much, cheap enough for me." He answered, placing down a box he had in his arms and leaving the house to get more that were in the car.
I decided to go upstairs and found the room that had all my furniture in it. I sat the box down and opened it. All that was in it was my posters and trinkets, other essentials and the clothes that didn't get brought over here already. I hung up the clothes that were in the box and hung up my posters where I thought they'd look good. I put my makeup and other trinkets on my vanity and deemed my room decorated.
"Y/n! Get down here!" My dad called, startling me slightly.
"Coming!" I yelled, walking out of my room and going downstairs.
As I got to the end of the stairs, I saw three more people. A boy that looked around my age, a little girl, and who I presumed to be their father.
"Who are they?" I asked my dad, raising an eyebrow.
"The Aftons. They're our neighbors." My dad acknowledged.
They're father walked up to me and put his hand out for me to shake. I awkwardly took his hand and shook it, not knowing what else to do.
"Hello, Y/n. I'm William, pleasure to meet you. Your father has told me all about you. I'm the owner of the business he's going to be working at." He introduced, letting go of my hand and smiling. He seemed to have a British accent.
"Pleasure to meet you, sir." I stammered out, smiling awkwardly.
"Those are my children. Michael, Elizabeth, and-.. Yeah. Michael and Elizabeth." He pointed out, pointing to his kids.
Did he think he had someone else to introduce? Why'd he continue like he had third kid?
"Hello!" Elizabeth chirped with an accent, snapping me out of my train of thought.
"Hi there Elizabeth, I'm Y/n." I informed her, kneeling down to meet her height. She had orange hair and green eyes, different from her brother and dad. She must've taken after her mother.
"Michael, be nice say hi to Y/n." William scolded, eyeing Michael.
I ruffled Elizabeth's hair softly and stood back up, looking at Michael. He had a brown mullet, and blue eyes that looked like his fathers.
"Hi, I'm Y-"
"Y/n. Yes I know. Hi." He grumbled, cutting me off. I frowned slightly, wondering why he was being so rude.
"There. You happy now, fatha?" Michael snarled, glaring at him. He also seemed to have a British accent.
William scoffed but quickly regained his 'nice guy' demeanor.
"Anyways, we're gonna get going now. Have a good day, you two!" he quickly announced, smiling widely and muttering something under his breath before waving and walking away, Michael and Elizabeth following.
"Bye William." My father said, looking at me as if he was telling me to say bye.
"bye.." i stammered quietly, waving as if they could see me.
That was weird. Like really weird.
"Also, you're starting school tomorrow at Hurricane high." My dad told me.
"Oh what the hell? Cmon, it's Sunday! We just got here! You aren't gonna give me a week, at least?" I exclaimed, throwing my arms in the air.
"Nope. School year just started too. You're lucky." Dad mentioned.
"Alright..I don't even have school supplies!" I stated.
My dad pushed over a box with all the school stuff I might've needed.
"Oh for fucks sake.." I whispered, looking in the box to find school supplies and a backpack.
"Language." He told me again, walking into the kitchen to unpack some stuff.
I picked up the box and brought it up to my room and shoved it in the corner of my room.
"Fuck.." I muttered, kicking my shoes off and laying on my bed to process the situation.
What time does school even start there? 8? 9? 7?
I should probably stop guessing and ask, like a normal human.
I got off of my bed and opened my door to yell out to my dad. "What time does school start?" I yelled, awaiting his reply.
A faint "8:00" was heard from the kitchen.
"Should've known..." I muttered to myself, closing my door.
