"What is taking so long??" Baran said full of frustration and fear.
"It's been hours! Why is no one giving me any answers? This is my Wife in there!!!"
Kerem walked up to Baran, held him with both hands on his shoulders and tried to calm him down. "The doctors trying everything to save Dilan. The moment they have news for you I'm sure they will let you know. I know this is unimaginably hard for you right now but you need to calm down. Let them do their job so you can hold your love in your arms again, okay?"
Baran looked at him. The only thing he was able to do was to nod at Kerem.
Baran felt helpless. The woman he loves is fighting for her life because of him. At least that's what he thought. If he wouldn't have gotten involved with this bastard. If he would have said no from the beginning this would never have happened.
Barans desperation became nearly unbearable.
In this moments the doors from the Surgery ward opened and the doctor came out.
Baran jumped up and hurried over to him.
"How is my wife? Please tell me she is okay!" He begged the doctor with tears in his eyes and a shaky voice.
Cihan came around the corner balancing three coffees in his hands. When he saw the doctor he stopped in his tracks.
The doctor looked at the three men in front of him and stopped at Baran.
"We were able to stop the bleeding. Thankfully the bullet missed the internal organs but your wife lost a lot of blood."
"But she will make it right?" He stuttered.
"The next 24 will be critical. If she gets through them she has good chances of a full recovery."
Hearing the doctor saying this let Baran breath again.
"Can I see my Wife?"
"The nurses are bringing her to the ICU right now. When everything is set up you can see her, yes."
"Thank you Doctor! Thank you so very much!"
With that, the doctor turned around and disappeared through the doors that he just came out of.
Baran turned to Cihan and Kerem.
"She's gonna be okay! Dilan is a fighter. She's gonna make it through the next 24 hours and she will be okay!" He said.
Cihan came over to his brother and hugged him.
"Of course she will be okay. She would never leave you. She will fight to get back to you!"

After what felt like an eternity, Baran was finally able to see Dilan. But when he saw, his normally so lively, smiling, uplifting Dilan, laying in that hospital bed attached to all these cables, tubes and monitors, his heart shattered into even more pieces. He slowly walked up to Dilan. The nurse told him that it's okay to touch her and that he should talk to her. He pulled one of the chairs that were in the room to Dilans bed. He carefully picked up her hand and gave it a kiss. He just stayed like this for a couple of minutes until he could find the strength to look up to Dilans face. Baran took his other hand to softly stroke Dilans head.
"I don't know if you can hear me or not but if you can, please..." Barans voice broke and he was fighting his tears.
"... please, don't leave me. I know I'm not the easiest person to be around but I'll do better. I promise you, if you just open those beautiful emerald eyes of yours, I'll do everything to make you happy. Just please don't leave me. I need you... so much!" Baran leaned his head down onto Dilans shoulder while still holding onto her hand. "Don't leave me Dilan. I can't lose you. I know this is selfish but I just need you so much."
Baran kept talking about everything good Dilan brought to their lives and how she changed so much for the better. Eventually he fell asleep right there next to his Dilan, while holding on to her. He tried to stay awake but his body and mind were so exhausted that he couldn't hold up anymore.

Baran woke up after a couple hours when he heard the nurse coming in.
"Mr. Karabey, you know we have strict visiting hours." The nurse scolded him.
"I'm sorry. I just fell asleep." He tried to justify him still being there.
"You should really go home and freshen up Sir. We'll take good care of your wife." She said.
"I'm okay. I can't leave her." He said while looking at Dilan and stroking her forehead.
"The doctor is about to come for his check up and we will have to do some more examinations. So this might take a couple hours, use this time to go home, freshen up and eat something. Your wife will need you refreshed and strengthened when she wakes up." Baran looked up and after a couple of minutes of thinking about what the nurse said he turned to her and nodded. He got up and gave Dilan a soft kiss on her forehead. "I'll be right back. I promise! You just need to keep on fighting okay?" With that he gave her one more kiss and left the room so the nurses can do their checks.

To be continued.

PS. I'm so sorry that it took so long to continue. I'll start writing the next chapter tomorrow and hopefully can post it by the end of this week. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
