Chapter 1

A woman, I'm falling, water, waves, nothing but blue and then black......

Those are the only memories I have before I met my current parents.

Hi, I'm Lumina, at least that's what my parents call me. But they're not my real parents. One day, they found me unconscious by the river and took me in. I don't know how I ended up there. All I know is that I saw a woman, but I don't remember what she looked like, and I don't know her. Then I know I fell, for whatever reason, then I was suddenly in the water, and then I don't remember anything else.
When they found me, I couldn't even tell them my name.
My parents were a young couple who decided to adopt me, and they named me Lumina. Lumina Chiba. I was very lucky with my parents, they loved me as if I were their own child, and I also quickly found friends in the village.

The whole thing happened 10 years ago. Now I'm 16 - probably - and I'm sitting with my parents in a somewhat oppressive silence during dinner.

Lumina: Mom..., Dad..., is something wrong?

Dad: You know there are family problems in your mother's family.

So the next day I packed my things and my parents drove me to the Sakamaki estate, as they were called. They gave me a letter for the boys with an explanation of everything.

Dad: We'll be back as soon as we can.

With that, they left. I took a deep breath and made my way to the door. I knocked, but no one answered, so I decided to wait. Slowly but surely, it started to rain, which annoyed me, so I knocked again. This time, the door opened by itself.

Lumina: Hellooo, is anyone there?

Suddenly I felt two hands on my shoulders, and a voice was right next to my ear, making me shudder.

???: Well, what do we have here, a cute little Bitchy-chan.

What? Did he seriously just call me a bitch?
I turned around angrily and looked into two bright green eyes belonging to a boy about my age, with reddish-brown slightly longer hair and a hat.

According to my parents' description, he must be Laito. When he looked at me, his eyes widened a bit and he looked at me incredulously. What's his problem now?
Before he or I could say anything, a voice sounded behind us.

???: Laito, what does this mean?
So he really was Laito.

Laito: Ooh, Reiji, look at what just came through the door.

With that, he turned me in the direction of Reiji, as the other one was apparently called.
He sighed and pushed his glasses up, but when he looked at me, his eyes widened in surprise and he stared at me incredulously.

Reiji: You...

Lumina: me...?

He quickly regained his composure and cleared his throat.

Reiji: May I ask who you are and what you're doing here?

Lumina: Um, yes, I'm Lumina. My parents sent me here to take care of a family matter. But everything is explained in this letter.

With that, I handed him the letter my mother had given me. He read it quickly and looked at me again.

Reiji: Very well, you take care of your luggage.

I looked next to me and saw a servant disappear with my luggage.
Where did he come from, was he even human?!
But Reiji interrupted my thoughts.

Reiji: Would you please follow me?

Without waiting for my answer, he marched away.
