Chapter 2

We followed him into the living room, where 4 more boys and 3 girls were waiting.

When we entered the living room, all eyes were on us, and when their gazes fell on me, the boys' eyes widened in confusion and disbelief. Even a blond boy who had been lying with his eyes closed on one of the sofas, opened one eye and looked at me in disbelief as well. And wow, his eyes were as blue as the ocean, and somehow they seemed familiar to me.
But what's wrong with all of them? Why are they all staring at me as if I'm an alien???

The boy with green eyes and red short hair stared at me in the most unbelieving way and whispered something.

Red-haired boy: *********

Now all eyes were on him, but unfortunately, I didn't understand anything.

Reiji cleared his throat.

Reiji: Um, well, this is Lumina, she's not a new sacrificial bride, she is the daughter of friends.

Sacrificial bride? Seriously!! What does that even mean?
And why did he emphasize my name so strangely?
I didn't have time to think about it because Reiji turned to me again.

Reiji: Well, um, Lumina, the boy with the blond hair is Shuu, he's the oldest.
I am Reiji, the second oldest.
Then Ayato, the one with the red hair.
Kanato, the one with the purple hair and the teddy bear.
You already know Laito, and the one with white hair is Subaru, he's the youngest.

I nodded, and my gaze lingered on the three girls.
One girl had reddish-brown hair and smiled kindly at me. The second girl had black hair and stared blankly into space. The third girl had blonde hair and seemed uninterested as she looked at her fingernails.

1st girl: Hi, I'm Ayaka ^^

2nd girl: Rin...

The third girl didn't seem to realize that she should introduce herself.

Reiji: Hontōni... *adjusts his glasses* Would you please introduce yourself too?

3rd girl: Hm?

Reiji: Come on... *clears throat* Would you please introduce yourself?

She rolled her eyes annoyed.

3rd girl: Yeah, yeah, I'm Yuuka...

Reiji sighed in frustration.

Reiji: Well, now that everyone has introduced themselves, I will show you to your room.

I nodded again, and after taking one last look at the others who were still staring at me in disbelief, I followed Reiji.

He went up a staircase and down many corridors, and I tried to remember everything, but it seemed impossible because everything was so huge.
When he finally stopped in front of a door, I almost bumped into him, but luckily I just missed him as I was busy looking around.

Reiji: Well, this is your room.

He opened the door.

Reiji: Your suitcases are already inside... and um... maybe be careful around my brothers.

Lumina: Wait, why-

When I turned to him, he was gone.
What the hell?!
Well, um, I guess I'll check out my room.....

I entered my room and my eyes almost popped out of my head. It felt like my whole house could fit in here. Even the bed felt as big as my room.
Apart from the size, I really liked the room too.
The walls were painted in a light lavender color, the canopy bed had dark blue curtains and was adorned with a dark gray blanket and black, dark purple, and light blue pillows.
In the room, there was also a large dark brown wardrobe, an equally dark brown desk, a dark gray vanity table, and two light gray armchairs, each with a dark purple cushion. The floor was made of parquet, and there was a large light gray shaggy rug.
I also had my own bathroom, which was also very modernly furnished :D
My two suitcases were next to the wardrobe, and I started unpacking everything. Meanwhile, my thoughts drifted back to the Sakamakis....

Honestly, first the door opens and closes on its own, then Laito appears out of nowhere, calling me Bitchy-chan, some creepy servant shows up and disappears as if by magic, and they kept talking about some sacrificial bride, whatever that is, and in general, they're all kind of... weird....
But I couldn't think about it further as a knock interrupted my thoughts.

I went to the door, and there stood Ayaka with the two other girls in tow.

Lumina: Oh, Hi

Ayaka: Hii ^^
I wanted to introduce myself again.

Yuuka: Well, you can do that without me...
Why did I even come along?

And with that, she turned around, strolled to the end of the hallway, opened a door, and disappeared into her room.
Rin glanced at us, briefly assessed us before she also vanished.
Both of us stared after them, slightly confused.

Lumina: Um, well, come on in ^^"

Ayaka: Ah, thanks ^^"

She entered my room and looked around briefly.

Ayaka: Your room looks really cool too.

Lumina: Yeah, I think so too. The room is decorated in my favorite colors.

Ayaka: Yeah, same for me ^^

Since we didn't feel like standing anymore, we sat down on the beautiful fluffy carpet.

Lumina: Hey, why are you actually here?

Ayaka: My parents are away on business and couldn't take me with them. They could only take my little sister since she's still a baby. And since they didn't want to leave me alone for such a long time, they sent me here because the boys' dad is apparently a good friend of theirs.

Lumina: Oh, I see.

Ayaka: And what about you?

Lumina: My parents have something family-related to take care of and didn't want to leave me alone either. It seems they're also good friends with the boys' dad, so they thought I should stay here for the time being.

Ayaka: So, you don't have any siblings?

Lumina: I don't think so.

Ayaka: You don't think?

Lumina: Well, my parents aren't my biological parents. They found me unconscious by the river in their village 10 years ago and took me in, but they treat me as if I'm their own child.

Ayaka: Oh... Do you know anything about your biological parents?

Lumina: No, I can't remember anything. Everything before my current parents found me is a blank. I also don't know my real name or how old I actually am, but I think I'm around 16.

Ayaka: Wow, that's intense. So you really don't even know how old you are or what your real name is... that must be tough.

Lumina: Actually, it's not. I'm actually quite happy.

Lumina: Ayaka, I'm glad you're still so positive 😄

Ayaka: Well, do you know why the other two are here?

Lumina: No, not really. I just know that Yuuka is stuck-up and Rin is weird.

Ayaka: Yeah, Rin doesn't say much and always looks expressionless. It seems like they're annoyed by everything...

Lumina: On another note... do you find the Sakamakis... peculiar too?

Ayaka paused for a moment, then looked at me with a somewhat downcast expression.

Ayaka: Well, maybe it's because they're not human.

Lumina: Um, what?

Ayaka: Well, the Sakamakis are vampires...
