Chapter 1
*Georgia's POV*
“Okay, class, we have a new student.” The teacher announced to everyone. I stood awkwardly beside the teacher’s desk trying to avoid eye contact with any of the kids in the room.
“Introduce yourself.” The teacher said.
“Um, I’m Georgia. Hi.” I said to the class, giving them an awkward wave.
“Right, go and take a seat.” The teacher said.
I looked around the room to see two empty spots; one in the middle next to a kid who winked at me and another one in the back next to someone with blonde/brown hair. I chose the one in the back because being in the back is easier. I plopped myself on to the chair and grabbed my books out of my bag. The person next to me snapped his head up and stared at me. I felt self conscious, was there something on my face?
I ignored him, nonetheless, and kept my attention to the front. The intensity of his stare burned a hole right through the side of my face. I had the huge urge to turn around and look at him but I couldn’t. I brushed my golden hair onto my shoulder and hid my face away from him.
And that’s how the whole period went. Quiet. Not a single word was uttered between me and the blonde boy. We each took turns in looking the other’s way, however not once did we catch each other’s eyes. When the bell finally rung, I hurriedly packed up my books and fled the classroom for lunch.
I didn’t know what to make of him. He gave a vibe that told me to not mess with him. But that didn’t explain the stares i got from him. i sat myself down for lunch on a bench facing curtain of trees that surrounded the school. I wasn’t exactly looking for friends, I like to be alone. It was how I was brought up.
Someone sat on the bench beside me. I looked up to find the boy that winked at me in class when asked to find a seat. He had a smirk on his face.
“Hello, there Georgia. You’re in my english class.” He sounded like he was trying to change the sound of his voice because that unnaturally deep voice he had on wasn’t convincing.
“Hi.” I said with a dismissive tone.
“I’m Aaron.” He winked.
“Nice to meet you, Aaron.” I said in that same dismissive tone.
“So... what brings you to Bane?” He scooted closer to me. I instinctively moved further away. He was beginning to annoy me.
“That is none of your business, Aaron.” I answered. I turned my body to a different direction and in my line of sight I saw that same blonde boy that sat next to me in english class. He was a few metres away and he was with a group of guys that seemed to be smoking near the trees. He was looking in my direction but he was too far for me to decipher if he was looking at me or Aaron. There was no one else around here so it must be one of us he was looking at.
“Come on, sweetie. There must be a reason.” His hand landed on my thigh and began to move upwards. I pushed it off and didn’t answer him, moving further away. He followed my movements and placed his hand on my thigh again. I grabbed his hand and pushed it away from me. I stood up to walk away.
“Don’t walk away from me, Georgia.” He sneered my name and gripped my upper arm. I turned and took his arm and twisted it. He gave a cry of pain. I pushed his body up against a tree. I pushed his arm further up and he gritted his teeth, probably stopping himself from screaming.
“I’m guessing you’re either the school player or the school’s biggest jerk. Either way, I don’t want you anywhere near me. I can do a lot more than this so don’t mess with me, Aaron.” I whispered menacingly in his ear. He nodded his head and he had a pleading look in his eye. I pushed it up a little more before letting go.
“Don’t mess with me, Aaron.” I said again and he scurried away. I sat back down to carry on with my lunch when all of a sudden I heard people clapping. I looked up to see the blonde haired guy and his group closer to me.
“Well, you sure know how to give a good first impression.” The blonde haired guy said. His blue eyes were twinkling with humour.
“He deserved it.” I shrugged. His lips pulled up into a grin.
“There’s a lot more of them than you know.” He said before walking away with the group of boys following him. I still didn’t get his name.
Once he left, I continued on eating my lunch and gazing out to the trees. It’s my first day here at Bane High and I didn’t have any complications until now. That Aaron guy is such an idiot. I miss my hometown. I miss my old life. I subconsciously lifted a hand and touched bottom of my ear. That tattoo reminded me of my old life. I loved my old life but I wasn’t proud of it. I did things that I shouldn’t have done. But I don’t regret it.
“Hi.” A voice said from beside me. I turned to find a girl who I vaguely remember sitting next to in maths. She had a giant smile on her face and her eyes looked excited.
“Hi?” I answered but it sounded more like a question.
“I’m Cindy.” She introduced herself and stuck her hand out. I stared at it until she awkwardly dropped it. I expected her to leave after that but she stayed. All I wanted was to be alone.
“I already know your name. Georgia, right?” She asked, her smile not wavering once.
“How did you know?” I asked, my voice low and uninviting.
“Everybody’s been talking about how you sat next to Niall.” She said at once, almost as if she was anticipating my question.
“Who’s Niall?” I asked her.
“The blonde guy with gorgeous blue eyes.” She said, her eyes scanning the trees behind me. “That one right there, laughing his head off.”
I followed her finger to where she was pointing and it was him. That one that I’ve been seeing and not knowing his name.
“Okay... now what’s wrong with sitting next to him?” I was still confused about all of this.
“Nobody ever sits next to Niall unless you’re one of his friends.” She shrugged her shoulders.
“Why?” I questioned further.
“He’s the school’s badass.” She answered.
“Like the cliché gets into fights and doesn’t give a shit about school, kind of badass? Or all out, criminal records and bang bang, kind of badass?”
“Like all out, criminal records and bang bang? kind of badass.”
I went silent after that. I didn’t know how to answer her. We sat in a comfortable silence after that. She didn’t leave and I didn’t walk away. I continued eating my food whilst she just sat reading a book. I wanted to ask her why she wasn’t leaving but I thought it too rude so I left her alone.
