For the weekend, Noah and I decided on a shopping trip together. Noah really wanted to try this new restaurant that had opened in the mall, some Mexican place, which honestly made the best burrito I have possibly ever eaten.
"So, are you ever going to tell me what happened last night when you went to bed?" Noah asked with a smirk plastered over his mouth.
"We went to bed and played Monopoly." I smiled at him.
"Oh yeah? And how many times did you play?"
"Just the once."
"And how many times did you hit the jackpot?" He asked with a laugh.
I nudged his shoulder, rolling my eyes. "Umm, last night? I lost count. But goddamn I think I might be in over my head here."
Noah stopped walking, grabbing my hand and taking me into a shop he'd seen. "What do you mean in over your head? Don't tell me you're already doubting this when it's barely even begun."
"I don't know. He's him and I'm...me. And we technically only just met and we've already slept together and that's just so not me and-"
Noah cut me off before I could keep going "Ava! Take a breath, ok? You need this. You need someone fun, someone who's going to sweep you off your feet and make you forget the bullshit. And who cares that you've slept with him. Jesus I'd do him for you if you didn't!"
I laughed, knowing he wasn't lying. "I know, I just...does it not seem too quick?"
"Ava, sometimes you just have to let these things be. He's into you, I could see it last night by the way he was looking at you. He was hooked on your every word. Sure it might feel a little intense, but give the guy a break. You clearly took a hit on him on your work's do, and it stuck with him. Not many guys would stick with that. They'd be on to the next girl the next day."
"Yeah, I suppose. I just don't want to get too far ahead of myself and then end up exactly where I was last year." Even though everything in me tells me to just go with it.
"Nothing like that will happen again, because I won't let it. And I promise you that if ever did do anything like that, I would end him. Whether he's about to be my new boss or not. Just don't overthink this, please? He's something new for you, and the man has his shit together, so he won't exactly bring shit your way. I have a good feeling about Harry, and you know I'd tell you otherwise."
I nodded at Noah, taking in all his words. He was right, I knew he was, and I do have to let things go to try make this go right. Whether it's fast or slow, it has to start somewhere.
"Ok, this shopping trip is now turning into a makeover. So, get your spending shoes on, because I'm about to turn you into Harry's wet dream." Noah grabbed some clothes off of different racks, then guided me to the changing rooms, choosing the outfits he thought were sexy, but not just sexy...sexy to turn a gay man straight.
We wandered through at least ten different shops before we took a coffee break and then Noah took me to the salon where we both had our hair done. Noah his usual, short back and sides and a small trim of his top, styling it with a quiff that was gentle, but cocky to show his edge. My hair was layered, keeping as much length as we could and then adding in some bangs. By the end, my hair was full of life again, bouncing and framing my face with such compliment, it was hard to notice I hadn't had a haircut.
When we got back to the apartment, Noah made me try on one of the outfits we bought, a pencil skirt that came just below mid-thigh, a snug black button up top with a V neck line and black stilettos. Nothing was left to the imagination, every curve was accentuated, cleavage hinted at but crowning, yet it was elegant and modern. Perfect for a workplace.
