Chapter 1 - The Bleeding Man
"I've been walking in the woods for what seems like forever. I'm so tired... so hungry... so thirsty..." The malnourished women thought to herself as she stumbled throughout the quiet woods. She had been on the move for days, too scared to stop. If she were to stop, who knows what those beasts could do to her.
The women heard rustling in the distance, she quickly ducked behind some pushed, then peeked through them. She saw a clicked figure collapse to the ground, it seemed like they were having a coughing fit. She tried to get a closer look at the figure. She leaned closer, but then lost her footing. She fell through the bush, making a loud thud as she did so.
The figure quickly snapped their head to look at what made the noise. He saw the women laying on the ground, leaves were all over her, sticking out of her hair and clothes. He quickly pulled his hood down before he spoke.
"Who in the world are you and why are you stalking me from the bushes?" He asked, partially concerned on why a random women was watching him in the woods and partially embarrassed he failed to notice her hiding there.
The women stood up and dusted the leaves off of her, then replied, "My name is Nura Godfrey of the Evanson Village, and I was NOT stalking you. I was simply watching to see if you were a threat or not, but it seems that you aren't. Now who might you be?"
"Who I am is not important," the man said as he stood up. He seemed to be around the height of 5'6, which was nowhere near Nura's build of 6'1. He seemed to be slightly intimidated by her size, but shook off the feeling quickly.
Nura raised an eyebrow, wondering why this man was so secretive about his identity. "Whatever you say, I suppose. Are you injured? I noticed that you were walking oddly," Nura questioned, scanning the man's body to see if she could see any visible wounds.
Then she saw it. The man's stomach had a large cut on it, most likely caused by one of the monsters lurking the world, but it wasn't a normal cut. His blood was not red as it should be, it shone a bright gold color. Nura took a step back as she realized what this meant. The man looked at her confused, then looked to where her gaze was set. He swiftly pulled his cloak over his open wound as a nervous expression entered his face.
Nura noticed how nervous the man looked. A confused look crossed her face, she wondered why a man of such power seemed so nervous of showing it to a mortal. Nura regained her previous position and fixed her posture, then she spoke. "You.. You are a God?" she asked the man, a slight sweat appeared on her face as her stomach dropped, realizing the question she had asked. If the man answered no, then what was he? And if he answered yes.. what would become of Nura?
The man's position shifted. He was about to speak but then whinced in pain, grabbing his stomach. Nura looked down and saw that the bleeding of golden blood had increased greatly, a puddle of his blood had formed under the man's feet. Nura hastily made her way towards the man and grabbed him before he could collapse. She reached into her pocket and grabbed a small bottle of alcohol. She proceeded to pour it on the wound to clean it, the man gripped onto her arm and whined in pain. Then, without hesitation, she ripped off fabric from the bottom of her dress and tied it around his wound.
"There, now your wound is clean and secure. Hopefully it won't bleed anymore, I tied it pretty tightly so it shouldn't for now, but we'll have to find somewhere with needle and thread so we can stitch it up," Nura rammbled on. She then realized that she was still holding the supposed God in her arms, so she quickly let go and apologized.
