Long ago, there lived a world in which all evil was punished and all good was rewarded. No person ever felt left out, and there was always an equality to everyone. This world was called Atomnia and it resided in a galaxy unseen by any telescope if you try looking for it from earth. Why have you not heard of this strange and far off place? Well, that's because it was destroyed. No living organism can survive in that world any more. Nothing has for a very long time.

You see, almost three centuries ago, Atomnia was a happy and peaceful place. The trees were green and purple and orange, as was natural. The grass was always deep blue and the sky stayed pale pink with little puffs of gold floating about. The rivers always ran warm and purple and the people there couldn't ask for anything better. There was no pollution because there were no cars or electricity. No one wasted anything and the air in Atomnia stayed as healthy as Earth's was before people became ignorant.

There, of course, ruled a king and his royal family. They treated all other people with respect and prosperity. There were three children in the royal family. The oldest of the three's name was Vincent, he was nearing his seventeenth birthday. The younger two were twins. Now, as legend tells, one of the twins was light and the other was dark. Whether to take this literally as one had dark skin and one had light, or to take it as one was a pessimist and the other was an optimist, is taken differently by each person so you should figure it for your own. The "light" twin was a boy named Nicholas and the "dark" twin was a girl named Kirsten. They were a little over fifteen.

Vincent was always considered the pride of the family because he was the eldest and because he was wise and lived out of the truest places in his heart. He was a good swordsman and, after his twelfth birthday, insisted on hunting all the food he ate himself. He was strong and handsome and was often followed by the young ladies of the kingdom, all hoping that Vincent takes one looks and falls in love with them. Although Vincent never took pride in saying it, from a very young age, he knew he was going to marry the girl in the forest. You see, when Vincent was about four or five, he loved adventure. He didn't have many friends, even though he was the king's kinsman, so he'd play with himself. Imagining that he was an astronaut on a space adventure or a miner digging his way to gold treasures. On a particular day, his mother and father were busy with the twins, who had become ill that morning. So Vincent went out. He was told never to go into the forest for he might become lost and never found. He played superman for a while, but got bored of that adventure, so he started playing knight and before he knew what was happening, he was in the heart of the forest where no light shone through the tallest of trees.
