In the kingdom of Wicca, a dark curse has taken hold of the royal family. When prince Orion asks Slate, a palace guard, to kill him, Slate initially refuses. However, Slate soon finds out the truth: the prince is cursed, and his touch is contagious. Haunted by dark memories of his own father, Slate knows he has to abide to prince Orion's orders to prevent a tragedy from happening. But the curse is devious, and it doesn't take long for it to worm its way into Slate's blood as well.
As soon as princess Nesrin discovers what has happened, she is bend on revenge. Enraged by the death of the person she loved most, she swears to destroy the evil that has taken her brother from her. However, after a violent struggle with the cursed and stubborn guard, she is forced into an unwilling alliance to save her kingdom and its people.
During their desperate search, Nesrin must come to terms with her family's corrupted legacy, while Slate has to fight both the curse that plagues him and his own demons, borne out of his past. But love and hate are two very similar things, and in the end, it isn't long before Nesrin and Slate are tormented by the things they used to hate and the things they have come to love.
